Yahya Jammeh Blames the British Colonialists while using the very Colonialists’ “Indirect Rule System” to survive on his seat of power.

Paramount Chiefs, Forced Labor and the Mile Two Prisons!

By Ambassado Essa Bokarr Sey

It is indeed interesting and rather weird to see a person like Yahya Jammeh the President of The Gambia blindly accusing the British government of supporting The Gambian opposition. Worst of all calling them colonialists! What an irony! That is if one is to say the least. The same Yahya Jammeh is constantly in the streets of Taipei with a pouch begging for coins and left over from the economy of FORMOSA’s tax payers!

Gambia: London Letter: Pa Mbai does it again!

London Letter: Pa Mbai does it again!

The last time FREEDOM shocked me was about five years ago – when the Daily Observer published that “LIST OF FREEDOM INFORMERS”. Or rather, I should say the Daily Observer’s and Jammeh Governments REACTION to FREEDOM shocked me. No one had ever heard of FREEDOMNEWSPAPER then, but the Daily Observer’s ill-advised action in publishing that list made you a house-hold name. Today I was equally amazed to see a Government of The Gambia letter, from the Minister of the Interior no less on your website – sent to you by authority of the Honourable Minister! The letter was written to the world’s biggest bank HSBC based here in London UK.

The Gambia: A Dictator’s Anti-Media War

IPI member and founder of the Independent Alagi Yorro Jallow talks about the muzzling of the media in Gambia

This month marks the sixteenth anniversary of the military takeover in The Gambia, in which President Yahya Jammeh ascended to power via coup d’état.  A former wrestler and soldier, Jammeh has proven himself a tough man to deal with, as the Gambian media has discovered. Before the military takeover, The Gambia was known as the “smiling coast,” a place of sunshine, hospitality, and generosity. It was home to the African Commission on Human and People’s Rights, as well as the African Center for Democracy and Human Rights.  It represented one of the oldest multi-party democracies in a continent beset by military take-overs and despotic regimes.

Gambian Gov’t Says Amadou Samba Was Never Investigated

Freedom Newspaper Extends Unreserved Apologies To Mr. Samba And Affected Parties

Our attention has been brought to our recent story captioned “Breaking News: Gambia: OB Conateh And Amadou Samba Named In A One Billion Dollar Cocaine Bust!!!”  The report contained some factual errors, according to concerned parties who reached the Freedom Newspaper. In that, Mr. Samba was not among the businessmen being investigated in connection with the cocaine bust. Just for the records, our report was premised based on information we earlier received from sources in The Gambia. Access to official information is a major problem in The Gambia—in view of the Government’s hostile relationship with the private press. There is no free flow of information in The Gambia. Reporters relied on sources to authenticate stories. We went as far as trying to reach Mr. Samba for his own side of the story, but he was indisposed for comments.

Cocaine Scandal Rocks The Presidency

State House Whistleblower Exposed Jammeh’s Cocaine Trade

Details are emerging regarding President Yahya Jammeh’s alleged involvement into cocaine trafficking in the region. On the whole, the head of state, who recently declared a “definitive no to drugs” during his Government’s 16 years anniversary held in Banjul, has been engaged in drug trafficking for a while now. We shall shed light on the story, as we proceed with this revealing testimonies coming from Jammeh’s most trusted aides over the years. These are dependable sources in active duty—handling Jammeh’s business errands. Well placed sources close to corridors of power in Banjul have been explaining to the Freedom Newspaper, how The Gambian leader allegedly trafficked cocaine into the impoverished West African country, under the disguised of importing “flour and sugar”  to cater for his growing business needs. Indeed, there is a “deep” secret behind Mr. Jammeh’s Kanilai and Banjul bakery shops. On numerous occasions, cocaine is smuggled along his sugar and flour consignments, each time Jammeh’s flour vessel ducked at the Banjul sea port, sources familiar with the President’s food importation told this paper. The Jammeh so called bakeries are merely used as “fronts” to cover his cocaine trade, said our source.

Gambia: BOYCOTT THE APRC (ONE PARTY STATE) MOCKERY ELECTIONS!

BOYCOTT THE APRC (ONE PARTY STATE) MOCKERY ELECTIONS!

TAIWAN IS NECESSARY EVIL FOR THE GAMBIA!

CREATE A THIRD FORCE THUS DETER AN UPRISING INSIDE THE GAMBIA!

A WARNING TO ALL GAMBIANS HOME AND ABROAD, THE INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY AND THE ECOWAS SUB REGION!

 Ambassador Essa Bokarr Sey.

By associating all variables and by looking at all indications no one can convince any serious minded person that elections are possible under the current political situations inside The Gambia. Indeed difference in political opinion does help shape public opinion within a  democratic process but the question is this one! Is that possible where the rule of law means nothing? The current political climate inside The Gambia cannot be hidden or covered regardless of what argument one uses as a yard stick. It is nothing more than a dictatorship at the farthest. Therefore nothing new or nothing good should be expected from a situation like this! The latter is also the very reason why some latest opinions do  beg to differ from those who believe that free and fair elections can be held under the APRC regime,  especially where we have President Yahya Jammeh at the hem of things. It is not possible and will never be possible!

Bombshell:  Ben Jammeh And Pa Harry Jammeh In A Corruption Scandal!!

Jammeh Pairs Saving “A Brother Drug Felon” To The Expense Of NDEA Staffers

Ben Jammeh Fired OC Camara And S/O Jarju For Jailing His brother Antonio Jammeh For Drug Trafficking

SOLICITOR GENERAL AND NDEA CHIEF EXPOSED!!!!

By Staff Reporter Malang Jammeh & Pa Nderry M’Bai

Ben Jammeh, the Director General of the National Drug  Enforcement Agency, and his brother Pa Harry Jammeh, Solicitor General, have been engulfed in a “corruption, nepotism, and abuse of office” scandal, the Freedom Newspaper can authoritatively report. The Jammeh brothers are busy “obstructing justice, manufacturing evidence, and blackmailing”  hardworking members of the NDEA in a bid to settle old scores with anti narcotic agents, whose only perceived crime was facilitating the jailing of  their junior brother Antonio Jammeh, who was sentenced to three years in prison by a magistrate court in Banjul on drug trafficking related charges sometimes in March of this year.  Samba Juma Camara, officer commanding Sibanoor drug squad unit, and his station officer Jerry Jarju are the latest victims of Pa Harry and Ben Jammeh’s blackmailing schemes. The two had been dismissed from the Force with effect from Monday, for merely having the audacity to arrest, prosecute and jailed the “untouchable” Antonio Jammeh, a blood brother of the current Solicitor General Pa Harry Jammeh, highly placed sources in the heart of the Jammeh administration said.  Antonio was jailed for three years without an option of fine by a Nigerian Magistrate in Banjul sometime in March, sources said.

Africa Action, Amnesty and CPJ Mount Calls On US To Pressure On Jammeh Gov’t

 July 22, 2010

The Honorable Michael H. Posner

Assistant Secretary of State

Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor

U.S. Department of State

2201 C Street NW

Washington, D.C. 20520

Dear Assistant Secretary Posner,

We, the undersigned organizations, write to urge the U.S. government to exert firm pressure on the Gambian government to improve Gambia’s worrying human rights situation. Real or perceived opponents of the government, including human rights defenders, as well as ordinary Gambians, are regularly subjected to serious human rights violations at the hands of government officials. The targeting of a number of prominent journalists, including one who has been disappeared, has further exposed the profound threats faced by Gambia’s media and civil society.

Dr. Njomborr Says...

Where there is injustices, there is bound to be corruption and rights violations. If those entrusted with enforcing the law are seen to be corrupt, then there is cause for concern.  Pa Harry Jammeh and Ben Jammeh should be investigated in the interest of justice, and fair play.  You don’t use your office to favor loved ones. That’s absolutely wrong.
