Editorial: The Gambian Military Is An Important Political Constituency For Jammeh!

Gambia’s Armed Forces has been widely considered as an important  political constituency for the country’s “little dictator” Yahya Jammeh.  This is the security outfit helping to maintain the status quo—even though it has outlived its professional standing.  The Gambian army is an extension of the APRC political machinery. Its leadership have been indoctrinated and brainwashed by the tyrant to a point that the issue of loyalty to one’s  country, the nation’s constitution, and her people is a thing of the past. The army has been politicized by the dictator. Mr. Jammeh has transformed the army as his personal political tool to showcase his total grip of the impoverished nation.

JAMMEH REINSTATES SACKED CHIEF PROTOCOL OFFICER!

Due to lack of prospective replacement for the sacked  Chief Protocol officer, Gambia’s erratic dictator Yahya Jammeh has reinstated Alhagie Ceesay with immediate effect. None of the people the dictator offered the job are interested to take it, said our source.  “ Jammeh couldn’t find replacement for Alhagie Ceesay.  No one wants his job offers. Look at the way he is appointing his cabinet…  in bit and pieces. He used to appoint his Ministers at one go, but this time around his struggling to get people to work for him. Alhagie Ceesay was fired, but only to reinstate him after unsuccessful frantic searches to get a Chief Protocol officer,” said our source.

THE IMPLICATIONS OF JAMMEH’S RECENT GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN!

Going by the recent cabinet reshuffle, it appears that there is nothing much in terms of portfolio changes.  Ministers on the waiting list should not lose their sleep. There is no doubt that the likes of Fatou Lamin Faye, Lamin Kaba Bajo and others will be recycled to other Ministries.  It’s a “Mary Go round.”  Very few Ministers will be replaced.  Justice Minister Edu Gomez must  be very lucky if he is reinstated!  It was unwise on the side of Jammeh to shutdown the entire Government just for the sake of dissolving his cabinet.  The stakes are high in doing so. It means the entire Government machinery will be rendered non operational.
