State Secret: Yahya Jammeh Never Knew That The Two Prisoners He Said He Will Never Pardon: Sheriff Abba Hydara, And The Cannibal Man; Have Died Some Years Ago!

State Secret: Yahya Jammeh Never Knew That The Two Prisoners He Said He Will Never Pardon: Sheriff Abba Hydara, And The Cannibal Man; Have Died In Prison Some Years Ago; National Security Disaster; As Jammeh Exposes His Ignorance About The Situation Of Prison Administration; Interior Minister Ousman Sonko And David Colley, Have Kept Jammeh Out Of The Loop About The Demised Prisoners; Prison and Interior Ministry Officials Accused Of Receiving Bribery, As They Allegedly Receive Money From Families To Include Inmates On The List Of Pardoned Prisoners; EX Nigerian CJ Joseph Wow Is Not Among Those Pardoned; Cabinet Meeting To Be Held At The State House Today!

By Pa Nderry M’Bai

When Gambia’s dictator Yahya Jammeh announced that he was not going to include two convicted murderers on his list of “pardoned” prisoners namely: Marabout Sheriff Abba Hydara and another man, who was accused of cannibalism, little did Jammeh know that the duo have died in prison some years ago, without his Interior Minister and Prison Director General informing him about the tragic death of the two inmates, the Freedom Newspaper can reveal.  Jammeh hastily granted the pardoning of the prisoners without ascertaining the wellbeing and whereabouts of the aforementioned late prisoners. Both Sheriff Abba Hydara and the Cannibal man have died. This latest information will no doubt shake the State House this morning. This goes to show that Yahya Jammeh doesn’t know what is happening around his own backyard. Absurd, right? His own trusted security agents are keeping him out of the loop as far as prison administration is concerned. It is really embarrassing for a sitting “ President” to be treated with such an utter contempt by National Security officials, who are expected to furnish him with accurate, reliable and up-to-date information on issues relating to prisoners and prison administration in particular.

Is Jammeh Bankrolling Hamat Bah's NRP to Take Part In All Elections?

Is Jammeh Bankrolling Hamat Bah's NRP to Take Part In All Elections?

BY AN INSIDER BANJUL

It seems Hamat Bah and his Nonsense Reconciliation Party (NRP) will not stop participating in Jammeh's superficial elections despite being the loser in all the by-elections his party, as the only opposition, failed to make any significant impact let alone win the elections. While both domestic and international institutions and rights advocates including those in the diaspora are bringing pressure to bear on Jammeh, this political clown is being paid to legitimize the APRC's manipulation of flawed electoral process that will make the world believe that there is democracy in the Gambia when in actual fact what we have is autocracy.

BURAY JAWO ON THE RELEASE OF PRISONERS!

BY BURAY JAWOH  ( SEATTLE)

Dear Editor,

Kindly allow me space in your widely read online newspaper to comment on the recent developments in The Gambia in relation to the Prisoner Release. First its important to examine section 82 of the 1997 Constitution which deals with prerogative of mercy Section 82 (1) The President may, after consulting the Committee established by subsection 2- (a) grant to any person convicted of any offence a pardon either free or subject to lawful conditions.(b) grant to any person a respite, either indefinite or for a specified period, of the execution of any punishment imposed on that person for any offence,

SIX NIGERIANS JAILED ON ROBBERY CHARGES HAVE BEEN PARDONED BY JAMMEH!

Gambia’s dictator Yahya Jammeh has pardoned six Nigerian prisoners, the Freedom Newspaper can reveal. The six felons were sentenced on robbery related charges. They were released on Monday, pending deportation to their native country. The pardoned prisoners have expressed thanks and appreciation to The Gambian De Facto dictator for freeing them from prison. One of the released prisoners said they never thought that they would be released—given the nature of the crime they were found guilty of.  He thanked Jammeh for availing them the opportunity to reunite with their families.

Breaking News: BUSINESSMAN DODOU JOBE, IMAM BABA LEIGH, AND ALHAGIE MUSTAPFA FAYE REJECT JAMMEH’S AMNESTY EXTENDED TO EXILES!

BUSINESSMAN DODOU JOBE, IMAM BABA LEIGH, AND ALHAGIE MUSTAPFA FAYE REJECT JAMMEH’S AMNESTY EXTENDED TO EXILES!

Dictator Yahya Jammeh’s so called amnesty extended to the disporan exiled Gambian community, has been routinely rejected, and ridiculed by skeptics and critics, who branded the gesture as not only “unsolicited” but also totally ridiculous by all standards, coming from an internationally isolated deranged despot, the Freedom Newspaper can reveal. Three prominent Gambian exiles have unequivocally rejected Jammeh’s amnesty during Freedom Radio Gambia’s popular Sunday Leral show. Topping the list of folks coming on record to rubbish Jammeh’s latest propaganda to revamp his declining public approval ratings, amid an economic and infrastructural collapse befalling the impoverished West African nation, is The Gambian businessman Dodou Jobe. Mr. Jobe is based in Dakar, Senegal. Jobe told Freedom Radio that since the news of Jammeh’s so called amnesty extended to the exiles overseas, he has been persistently receiving phone calls from his loved ones, friends, and acquaintances to return home and continue with his business. Jobe cannot fathom what wrong he must have committed to warrant Jammeh to grant him amnesty.

FROM A FALSE GENEROSITY TO FORCED GENEROSITY: THE EFFECT OF SUBTLE AND MILITANT NATIONALISM COMBINED WITH INTERNATIONAL PRESSURE!

FROM A FALSE GENEROSITY TO FORCED GENEROSITY: THE EFFECT OF SUBTLE AND MILITANT NATIONALISM COMBINED WITH INTERNATIONAL PRESSURE!

By A Concerned Student

Reacting to Jammeh’s interview with Kebba Dibba on the 50th Independence Anniversary in which he said he has forgiven Gambian dissidents with the exception of a few, I argued that a new era of democratization was not being born rather Jammeh was displaying a false generosity that was designed to mesmerized political spectators. It was a move well calculated to galvanize his support. But that call was not met seriously as only former enablers answered to him. Now that he has freed some captives and detainees; it would be unfair to argue that this recent gesture is entirely a false generosity though most of the political prisoners are former enablers; the recent move is a result of the combined efforts of the awakening militant nationalism and growing pressure from international institutions. It is inconceivable that a man who built his government on terrorizing the citizenry, eliminating allies and opponents whenever he feels threatened so as to ensure a lasting reign can abandon that art voluntarily.

Gambians in the Diaspora: Applaudable, but…

Gambians in the Diaspora: Applaudable, but…

By Ebou Gaye

The news of pardoning of prisoners and Gambians in the Diaspora by the Gambian leader Yahya Jammeh has been received with mixed feelings and reactions. While many people qualify it as a welcome gesture, some opine that it should be treated with caution. Jammeh’s supporters and the released prisoners have thanked him profusely and praised him highly, calling him a merciful, oft-forgiving leader, praying for him abundantly. People on the other side of the divide are of the view that Jammeh has done what he should have done long ago and hence does not deserve such commendation and praises. They believe that Jammeh should repent and seek forgiveness from his compatriots rather that treating them as wrongdoers or villains who deserve his pardon while portraying himself as an infallible being or a saint. According to them, some of those said to have been pardoned have not committed any crime and should not have been imprisoned.

Yaya Jammeh loves to be surrounded by sycophants and mediocre people!

Yaya Jammeh loves to be surrounded by sycophants and mediocre people!

By Baboucarr Bojang

At first, I thought that the mediocre and hateful praise singers are to be blamed for Jammeh blunders and brutalities in part. After a second thought and investigations I finally realize the opposite is the TRUTH. Yaya Jammeh himself loves to be surrounded by insignificant, shameless and stupid people around him so that he can use and abuse them at will whiles they in turn accept to be his slaves and eat from his hands. Yaya Jammeh will not last long in company with an honest and independent minded person. Once he discovers that the person cannot be manipulated at will, he will quickly sack or take distance from the person.

“I WILL SOON DIE; I AM AN ELDERLY PERSON,” FREED DEATH ROW INMATE LAI JOOF TOLD THE GRTS CAMERA CREW; AS FREED PRISONERS SPEAK!

“I WILL SOON DIE; I AM AN ELDERLY PERSON,” FREED DEATH ROW INMATE LAI JOOF TOLD THE GRTS CAMERA CREW; AS FREED PRISONERS SPEAK!

By Pa Nderry M’Bai

“I have been released from prison, but I am going to die. I have been an APRC supporter since 1994 and I will go to my grave as an APRC supporter. I have known the President Yahya Jammeh when he was going to school in Banjul. He was living in the same street with me. He used to come to my home,” Death row inmate Lai Joof told the GRTS camera crew, who stormed the mile two prison premises in the wake of the pardoning of the inmates by Yahya Jammeh. Mr. Lai Joof, who appeared weak and pale, sounded as if he had little hope of living longer life. He maintains that he is going to die soon due to his old age.  Joof never expected that the dictator was going to send him to prison on treason charges because he has always been an ardent and loyal supporter of the Jammeh regime. He thanked God and Yahya Jammeh for freeing him. “I want to thank the President. This… it is God who said I should come here, but me I am a dead, dead, dead; I repeat dead supporter of the President. The President… I live with the President when he was going to school and when he was in the army. Anyone who knows my daughter Mam Rose Joof… I will die and go to my grave with my support for the President and the APRC government.  Yes.  I will soon die. I am an elderly person. I repeat: I will die and go to my grave with my support for the President,” Lai Joof told hundreds of families present at the mile two prison to receive their loved ones from prison on Friday. Many wept in tears, following Lai Joof’s touching and sentimental statement.

The Despot’s Amnesty!

The Despot’s Amnesty

By Fatou Jaw Manneh

The despot of The Gambia Yahya Jammeh was at his old tricks once again. He pardoned “prisoners” and gave amnesty to dissidents on the occasion of the 21st anniversary celebration of his coup, and the reaction was predictable. But should we be celebrating? On what grounds really?  The fact of the matter is that Yahya Jammeh released folks he had kidnapped or used the courts to jail and called it pardon. The public ran about shouting in gratitude or claiming victory. But what had the “prisoners” done in the first place that warranted their arrest, in some cases for ten years? Some had lost their lives in prison and others had lost their loved ones who had been crying for their freedom.
