Gambia: A Rejoinder- The Way Forward For Democratic Change Sunday, January 31, 2010 (1023 reads)
A Rejoinder- The Way Forward For Democratic Change
By The UDP Steering Committee-UK
On the 25th September 2009, the spokesperson and former flagbearer of the opposition National Alliance for Democracy and Development [NADD] published an article in the Foroyaa Newspaper under the above heading in which he made the following statements;
‘The split confirmed that a party led alliance or a divided alliance is not the way to bring about change in the Gambia. A divided NADD became extremely weak. The UDP party led alliance also showed its weakness. Instead of adding votes from the NRP and GDP, the UDP led alliance lost approximately 80,000 votes. In short, while UDP had approximately 145,000 votes in 2001presidential elections, in 2006 it ended up with approximately 104,000 votes. NRP had approximately 35, 000 votes in 2001. This did not feature in the votes of the UDP led alliance in 2006. Hence putting the three parties together did not lead to more votes; on the contrary it led to a lower number of votes. There is no empirical evidence to indicate that the same tactic will yield a different outcome.’
This is a complete glib and forms part of Halifa Sallah’s subterfuge to conceal his personal longstanding reluctance to rally behind a UDP led alliance and/or candidate. The UDP led alliance did not lose 80,000 votes in the 2006 presidential election neither is it tenable to attribute its defeat in that election to the type of alliance they had adopted with the National Reconciliation Party [NRP] and the Gambia People’s Democratic Party [GPDP.] Here are the facts;

What is the NIA doing in Cuba? Sunday, January 31, 2010 (1819 reads)
What is the NIA doing in Cuba?
From A Gambian Security Officer
Dear Editor,
Since Jammeh came to power, he had openly expressed his desire to work closely with Cuba at any cost including doing so at the detriment of Gambians. Well it is true that Gambia is an independent state that with rights to deal with any country as long as that is in the interest of our nation. But as a security officer in the Gambia, I am aware that many of these NIA men and women including people I know very well are now in Cuba. They include the notorious killer and torturer called Demba Cessay and another disguised murderer called Bakary Jatta.

Gambia: Legal Debate: DARBOE'S STRATEGY IS INDEED RIGHT Sunday, January 31, 2010 (1087 reads)
DARBOE'S STRATEGY IS INDEED RIGHT
(the 3rd Rejoinder)
By The Democrat
Moliere stated in 1972 that “a knowledgeable fool is a greater fool than an ignorant fool”; whilst Friedrich von Schiller stated in 1801 that “with stupidity even the gods struggle in vain”. Certainly the clown disguising under Oceanic Lad has no value for his criticism of Lawyer Darboe’s strategy than to clearly manifest his brazenness. In his retardedness, this so called New York Legal Assistant had lost his sight off the subject under discord, which had nothing to do with his resume. Furthermore, unless this empty head failed to realise; the New York Central Booking has no staff by that name of his, Oceanic Lad. Hence, I wonder what the essence of his forged bravado is all about.

DARBOE'S STRATEGY IS NOT ONLY DEAD WRONG
... BUT DANGEROUS FOR HIS CLIENT [Innocent Femi Peters]
By Oceanic Lad, New York
I am really perplexed with the laughable counteraction by this so called Democrat to my claims on Darboe’s strategy on the Femi Peters trial. I have pondered over it enough. I tend to relax but anytime I browse the Freedom newspaper I see dozens more reading it; so I think the issue is of interest to many; [I love debates which I have been doing since Primary 3 Correa at Kaur Primary School]. This is because this democrat is a real nuisance in law that’s why he keeps on questioning my legal knowledge.

Breaking News: Gambia: President Jammeh Dashes One Million To Haiti Friday, January 29, 2010 (1419 reads)
President Jammeh Dashes One Million To Haiti
By Staff Writer Mboob Manneh, Banjul
Gambia's President Yahya Jammeh has pledged to provide humanitarian relief to the poverty stricken Haitians in sum of one million United States dollars. Mr. Jammeh said The Gambia is morally obliged to help the former French Colony nation. Haiti has been devastated by an earthquake recently. Several thousands of Haitians died during the tragedy, which ravages that nation. Rescue workers are still on site trying to search for remains in the rubbles. Mr. Jammeh's move to extend helping hands to the Haitians have been received mixed reactions. While some welcomed the move, others believed that there are poverty stricken Gambians in Ebo Town who are desperate need of help, thanks to water floods and other natural disasters. They said there is nothing wrong for Mr. Jammeh to help the Haitians, but he should start with his own people before trying to portray himself as a good man when he is not.

Editorial: Tribute To Major Musa Chemical Ali Jammeh
….Remembering The Evil
Yahya Jammeh Is Running A Secret Killing Organization In Banjul
We are today paying tribute to Gambia’s most feared killer Major Musa Jammeh, AKA Maliamungu or Chemical Ali, as he was fondly called by his mentor and God father Yahya Jammeh. It is little over one year when Chemical Ali Jammeh died from a mysterious illness. Musa’s death brought some sign of relief to his torture victims, including families he had rendered orphanage--thanks to his unfinished killing spree directed at perceived political opponents in the country. He was President Jammeh’s lead killer, who tortured, maimed, and killed Gambians at will.
