.jpg) Bombshell At State House-Press Secretary Mam Sait Ceesay Fired!
"Ceesay Also Lost His Daily Observer Editor-In-Chief Job."
"Investigations also revealed that Mr.Ceesay's phone records at the state house were pulled out by the NIA, in a bid to establish the people he talked to abroad. Unauthorised International calls monitored."
By Our Banjul Bureau Chief Bolong Jammeh
The Editor-in-Chief of the Daily Observer, Mr Mam Sait Ceesay, has been fired according to highly placed sources at the State House.Mr Ceesay, who doubles as the Deputy Director of Press at State House, was reported to have lost both posts as the editor and State House assistant Press boss. It's gathered that his sacking might have to do with an ongoing investigations to trace a State House insider who is accused by the Presidency of passing information to the Freedom Newspaper, a US based Gambian online paper. Mr.Ceesay who spent his journalistic life aiding and abetting the Jammeh government was dimissed with immediate effect, unimpeachable sources revealed. As we piece this story together, there is a big confusion at the State House press office. Panic and anxiety continues to grip local staffers as the depature of Mam Sait Ceesay came as a "big shock and disbelief to them." Mr.Ceesay who spent the weekend at Kanilai, the President's home village reported to work this morning only to find his dismissal letter on his office desk. He was immediately ordered to surrender the keys to his official car, which meant that he had to humilatingly board the Bakau-Banjul mini van locally known as "Gelegelleh." The disgraced former press secretary has been with the Jammeh government since July of 1994. He was the publisher of the military junta's propaganda machine media outlet called the "Upfront Newspaper." He also at some point worked at the Department of Information. Our Banjul Bureau Chief Bolong Jammeh is investigating the story. We would keep you posted about developments as we received Bolong's reports. Stay tuned. The Freedom Newspaper is your leading and most reliable source of news.

Breaking News:State House Web Master Mamie Sarr Warns Freedom-Editors React! Sunday, February 25, 2007 (2240 reads)
Mamie Saar a web master at the Gambia's State House, has emailed the Freedom Newspaper cautioning us to stop copying images from their site. Mamie's mail was sent to us on January 29TH 2007 and was being reviewed by the editorial board of this paper since then. It has now been confirmed that the mail is authentic and was indeed from Ms.Sarr. We invite you to visit the state house website and click on their contact us button and see what will pop up. Her email address is being used as the state house's contact person. Ms.Sarr got it all wrong. This paper got its pictures from our camera man in Banjul, who is hired to monitor the movements of the President. We have material evidence to prove our claims. Lets Ms.Sarr and her group consider taking us to court and see what would happened. Assuming that we got the said pictures from the state house website, what is the beef here? Is the state house not funded by the Gambian tax payers? What's illegal about copying pictures from the site? Come on... Ms.Sarr. You need to grow up and stop this low life. Your boss Yahya Jammeh is looking for publicity with his fake aids cure. Your mail to the Freedom Newspaper would no doubt undermine his efforts. You may ask why publishing your letter at this time? The answer is simple. Guess what, we at Freedom believe in authenticating mails sent to us before reacting. You are free to defend yourself. Below is the unedited mail we received from the state house web master Mamie Sarr. Please read on...

Breaking News:Gambia's Parliamentarians Plan To Probe President due to alleged infirmity of mind! Sunday, February 25, 2007 (2249 reads)
Gambian President To Face Medical Probe Due To Alleged Infirmity of mind!
......"APRC NAMS AND SERVICE CHIEFS MAKING PRIVATE CONSULTATIONS."
"The members of the National Assembly shall deliberate on the report and vote on it the President shall only be removed where two thirds of the members present and voting, vote for his removal.(5) The report of the Board shall be final and conclusive and shall not be enquired into by any court."Says the Gambian Constitution.
By A Staff Writer
Some members of Gambia's parliament and security chiefs have been talking loud. The appointment of Fatou Jahumpa Ceesay as the country's speaker was seen as a move to block any form of motion calculated to remove Jammeh from power in view of his ailing mental health problems. Fatou was called in to represent the President's interest. Some members of parliament are planning to enforce section 66 of the constitution, which gave them the right to send the President for medical examination since according to them there is enough material evidence available about Jammeh's mental deficiencies. The average Gambian believe that Yahya Jammeh is mad and needs urgent medical help. Some service chiefs are equally concerned about the President's recent behaviours which they say is lowering the image of the Presidency. None of these officials want to be quoted openly but said they would support any move to evaluate the President's mental status at this hour. The Ruling APRC should understand that the current situation is beyond party affiliation. What we have is a sick President who needs help. If the NAMS plans went well, Jammeh is on his way to campa for medical examination. The very section of the constitution which the NAMS intend to invoke reads"Mental or 66.(l) Where the Speaker receives a notice in physical writing signed by not less than one half of incapacity all . The members of the National Assembly alleging that the President is, by reason of infirmity of mind or body, incapable of discharging the functions of his office, and giving particulars of the alleged incapacity, the Speaker shall request the Chief Justice to constitute, on the recommendation of the head of the medical services of The Gambia, a Medical Board comprising at least five independent medical practitioners of appropriate standing. (2)The Board shall enquire into the matter and make a report to the Chief Justice stating the opinion of the Board whether or not the President is, by reason of infirmity of mind or body, incapable of discharging the functions of the office of President. The President, and if he or she so wishes, his or her own medical adviser may appear, and shall have the right to be heard, before the Board."

Rejoinder: Mrs. Cheryl Gregory-Faye Friday, February 23, 2007 (1978 reads)
By Mna Fwawi
Dear Editor,
I debunk the letter written by an anonymous source, claiming to be from State House. The writer accused Mrs. Cheryl Gregory-Faye of sycophancy. This is untrue and irresponsible. I would like to be clear: I am not defending Mrs. Gregory-Faye, because she has done nothing wrong to warrant a defense. However, it is imperative that I set the record straight. I know Mrs. Faye, personally and professionally. I have worked with her for some years, and she is the most able, professional international civil servant I have encountered. For the record: Mrs. Faye has played a pivotal role in UNICEF's country programme of cooperation since she assumed that post almost four years ago.

Breaking News:Gambia expels UN official for AIDS "cure" criticism Friday, February 23, 2007 (1819 reads)
BANJUL, Feb 23 (Reuters) - Gambia has ordered the expulsion of the top U.N. official in the country after she criticised assertions by President Yahya Jammeh that he was curing AIDS patients with herbs, government sources said on Friday. Fadzai Gwaradzimba, a Zimbabwean national who is the resident coordinator of U.N. operations in the tiny West African state, was given 48 hours to leave the country, the sources, who asked not to be named, told Reuters. Gwaradzimba's office in Gambia declined to comment. Jammeh, a former wrestler and army officer who has ruled the predominantly Islamic country since seizing power in a 1994 coup, says he has found a natural herbal cure for patients infected with HIV/AIDS. The Gambian president has been giving regular treatment sessions at a local hospital in which, carrying a Koran and prayer beads, he rubs patients' bodies with herb pastes and also gives them herbal potions. The sessions, widely broadcast by Gambian state media, have been reported by international media, which have quoted world health experts as casting doubt on Jammeh's claim to be able to cure AIDS. In a report on Jammeh's treatment sessions earlier this week, Britain's Sky News quoted Gwaradzimba as saying that claims of cures for AIDS could encourage sufferers of the disease to engage in risky behaviour and make the AIDS problem in Africa worse. Jammeh has dismissed the scepticism and insists the cure works.

Breaking News:Two Directors of the World Bank Million Dollars Aids Program in Gambia Resigned! Thursday, February 22, 2007 (2224 reads)
Bombshell At Gambia's Aids Secretariat-Two Directors Resigned In Protest Against Jammeh's Claims For Aids Cure!
...."NASS BOSS SAIHOU CEESAY AND AISHA BALDEH CALL IT QUIT."
Gambia Gov't Likely To Face World Bank sanctions!
By Our Health Correspondent
The Director of Gambia's National Aids Secretariat Saihou Ceesay alongside with Aisha Baldeh an official of the Secretariat have resigned in protest ,following the President's dangerous announcement that he had found cure for aids. The two officials have notified the Gambian Government their intention of quitting their employment with the state with immediate effect. Mr.Ceesay who used to work at the Department of State for Health Aids prevention unit was assigned to head the World Bank multi-million Dolars aids fund that was designed to curb the country's rapid aids infection rate. Concerned by the implications of the President's so called claims for aids cure, Ceesay and Madam Bah had decided to call it quit. Shock and disbelief gripped NASS staffers, as the Directors walked out of their offices in protest against Jammeh's claims for aids cure. While some government sources say the two were forced to resign or risked being sacked, information reaching this paper have it that both Ceesay and Baldeh refused to be associated with the ongoing state campaign to promote Jammeh's aids cure. Alieu Jammeh manager of Gambia's National Aids Control program has been named as the Director of the National Aids Secretariat.

By Gheran Senghore, former Observer Reporter
Thanks for re-igniting the debate on issues surrounding the late journalist, Omar Barrow's memorial fund. I have, for several years been trying to track down the actual account in which the money collected was deposited but to no avail. On several ocassions in 2005, I have tried contacting Shefiff about the money to enable Omar's widow and daughter to have access to it but always end up with excuses that to my mind hold no water.
