WASHINGTON — Osama bin Laden, the mastermind of the most devastating attack on American soil in modern times and the most hunted man in the world, was killed in a firefight with United States forces in Pakistan on Sunday, President Obama announced. In a dramatic late-night appearance in the East Room of the White House, Mr. Obama declared that “justice has been done” as he disclosed that American military and C.I.A. operatives had finally cornered Mr. bin Laden, the Al Qaeda leader who had eluded them for nearly a decade, and shot him to death at a compound in Pakistan.

Dear Pa,

I am writing this letter to the editor to protest your moderation of  the  most recent program with Elhadgi Mustapha who makes periodic appearances on your program. I recognize and value the notion that different Gambians have correspondingly different ideas on how to address the very serious problems we face as a nation. Our prescriptions therefore are not mutually exclusive nor are they going to always necessarily converge even as our intentions are by and large the same. I am equally as frustrated as many well meaning Gambians are on the apparent lack of unity of the established political parties opposed to the terrible regime of Yahya Jammeh.

The disgraced Gambian leader, an excessive womanizer, who married the teenager at her eighteen birthday, prematurely ended the relationship thereby—leaving the Sallah family to live in shame, and emotional distress, sources reaching this medium said. Mr. Jammeh was pressurized by his gold digger Moroccan wife Zeinab Suma Jammeh to let go little Alima, whose marital relationship with Jammeh never went down well with her. Zeinab, had to pack, and leave Banjul, and briefly resettled in Washington DC, as a form of registering her disaffection against Gambia’s De Facto dictator.  She was the least pleased with Jammeh’s polygamous marital life. She laid down strict conditions to enable her return to Banjul; one of which was for Jammeh to divorce Alima, who she perceived as an “intruder, and an illegitimate” wife of the mentally challenged despot.

The tragic assassination of President John F. Kennedy on November 22^nd 1963 was my first real introduction to America. Prior to that, America was just one of many country names I learnt at school; a name that rarely piqued my interest. Like most high school student’s who lived in one of the former British colonies in West Africa at that time, England was where I wanted desperately to visit. It was where I hoped to continue my higher education. But President Kennedy’s assassination on that fateful November morning changed all that. In Banjul, then Bathurst, the capital city of The Gambia, the solemnity of the day of the assassination thousands of miles away in the State of Texas was palpable everywhere one looked.
