Balangbaa: The Campaign for Civil Disobedience in The Gambia
An Open Letter
Ms Reine Alapini Gansou,
Chairperson of the African Commission
C/o Kairaba Beach Hotel April 26, 2011
By Mathew K Jallow
Dear Ms Gansou,
This no-confidence protest letter is addressed you in your capacity as Chairperson of the African Commission. The aim is bring the spotlight on the African Centre for Democracy and Human Rights Studies (ACDHRS), which is located in Banjul. And the intent is for you bring the concerns of the citizens of the host country of the 49th Ordinary Session, The Gambia, to the African Union (AU) body in order to educate policy-makers and the powers-that-be about what a sham the ACDHRS has become. First, allow me to diverge into another important area of concern to Africans all across the continent. As passive observers of the shenanigans that have dominated the operations of the African Union and its predecessor, the Organization of African Union (OAU), Africans have become frustrated with the redundancy, wastefulness and utter uselessness of the continental body and regional institutions such as the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS). The picture that has emerged is that the African Union and its predecessor the OAU have existed solely to serve the interests of the leaders of its member states.

UDP’S Karamba Touray Reacts To Radio Talk Host Show Faye’s Remarks About Darboe!
The Elhadgi Mustapha diatribe
By Karamba Touray
Dear Pa,
I am writing this letter to the editor to protest your moderation of the most recent program with Elhadgi Mustapha who makes periodic appearances on your program. I recognize and value the notion that different Gambians have correspondingly different ideas on how to address the very serious problems we face as a nation. Our prescriptions therefore are not mutually exclusive nor are they going to always necessarily converge even as our intentions are by and large the same. I am equally as frustrated as many well meaning Gambians are on the apparent lack of unity of the established political parties opposed to the terrible regime of Yahya Jammeh.

Breaking News: Gambia: JAMMEH DIVORCES FIRST LADY ALIMA SALLAH! Tuesday, April 26, 2011 (15861 reads)
JAMMEH DIVORCES FIRST LADY ALIMA SALLAH!
The Freedom Newspaper Maiden Issue On Jammeh’s Divorce, Sex Life, Arms, Betrayal Schemes, And a Lot More!
BANJUL, THE GAMBIA—After weeks of speculations, and counter speculations regarding the recent divorce between President Yahya Jammeh, and Gambia’s First Lady Alima Sallah, the daughter of Gambia’s Chief Diplomat in Saudi Arabia, the Freedom Newspaper can report with authority that the relationship between the pair had ended for good. The disgraced Gambian leader, an excessive womanizer, who married the teenager at her eighteen birthday, prematurely ended the relationship thereby—leaving the Sallah family to live in shame, and emotional distress, sources reaching this medium said. Mr. Jammeh was pressurized by his gold digger Moroccan wife Zeinab Suma Jammeh to let go little Alima, whose marital relationship with Jammeh never went down well with her. Zeinab, had to pack, and leave Banjul, and briefly resettled in Washington DC, as a form of registering her disaffection against Gambia’s De Facto dictator. She was the least pleased with Jammeh’s polygamous marital life. She laid down strict conditions to enable her return to Banjul; one of which was for Jammeh to divorce Alima, who she perceived as an “intruder, and an illegitimate” wife of the mentally challenged despot.

President Jammeh, The 'strongman' of West Africa in focus..continued (Part II)

BANJUL, THE GAMBIA—The Gambia arguably has one of the most dormant political climates in the region, perhaps the whole of West Africa with her weak and fragmented opposition whose presence is largely only felt when attempting a response to the Jammeh government's political statements on important world and regional issues. Issuing political statements in itself is fine and dandy in a political dispensation such as ours, but making such occasional and reactionary activities the center-piece of your party politics tantamount to political malpractice and a betrayal of the expectations of the people who you seek to represent.

Born Rebel; Born Gainako: The Fascinating life story of an African Hippie
Chapter 5: The Turning Point
By Mathew K Jallow
The tragic assassination of President John F. Kennedy on November 22nd 1963 was my first real introduction to America. Prior to that, America was just one of many country names I learnt at school; a name that rarely piqued my interest. Like most high school student’s who lived in one of the former British colonies in West Africa at that time, England was where I wanted desperately to visit. It was where I hoped to continue my higher education. But President Kennedy’s assassination on that fateful November morning changed all that. In Banjul, then Bathurst, the capital city of The Gambia, the solemnity of the day of the assassination thousands of miles away in the State of Texas was palpable everywhere one looked.
