Lawyer Camara Says Justice Delayed Is Justice Denied

By Staff Reporter Bakary Gibba & Pa Nderry M’Bai

The one billion dollar cocaine case is far from being heard in court. The Prosecution Tuesday came up with another story that the state intends to file fresh charges against the accused persons. Twelve foreign nationals have been charged with trafficking one billion worth of cocaine into The Gambia. No Gambian has been indicted so far since the interception of the drugs. Deputy state prosecutor M Abdullah said the charges would be amended by the state. He wants the court to consider giving the state time to file additional charges in coming days.  His request was granted without an opposition from the defense.

IMF Says Gambia’s New Emerging Banks Poses A  Major Risk To The Banking Industry!!!

Says New Banks strained the Central Bank’s resources for banking supervision

“Moreover, competition among the high number of banks in a relatively small market has added to risks to the banking system, especially in the current environment with weaknesses in key sectors of the economy. This is evidenced in a recent weakening of credit quality, profitability, and capital adequacy,” the IMF statement noted.

“In the first half of 2010, fiscal performance suffered from revenue shortfalls, while spending was contained within budget limits. In large part, the shortfalls were due to rising world fuel prices that eroded revenues from fuel taxes. In June, fuel prices were raised, which has helped to restore revenues,” said a statement issued by the International Monetary Fund yesterday on Gambia’s economic situation. According to the IMF’s Executive Board, who were in  consultation with The Gambian authorities the emerging new banks in The Gambia, with a small business market has created lack of proper banking supervision in the impoverished West African country.  “The number of banks in The Gambia has doubled to 14 since 2007, contributing to a rapid expansion of much needed financial services. But it has also strained the CBG’s resources for banking supervision. Moreover, competition among the high number of banks in a relatively small market has added to risks to the banking system, especially in the current environment with weaknesses in key sectors of the economy. This is evidenced in a recent weakening of credit quality, profitability, and capital adequacy,” the IMF statement noted.

Gambia: Essa Khan be apolitical or be ready to be tackled from now onwards!

NMDA’S verbiage of colorful strings!

Essa Khan be apolitical or be ready to be tackled from now onwards!

By Essa Bokarr Sey.

Knowing very well that Sidia Jatta can handle, tackle and rebuff everything that was written in the under mentioned reaction, I came on stage to counter another crack from this endless-concealed-propaganda. Why rush on the media with such a ANGRY TONE for that matter? I believe those of us who read or analyze what is taking place in The Gambia should never remain silent spectators where wrong is being promoted as something true. Especially where it is coming from sources we “close” within a context.

NIA FILES!  Jammeh’S Orders Huge Snake From Guinea Ahead Of Elections—Spiritual Warfare At Work!

Today, the internal wing of our mobile brigade in Banjul came across a deep secret within the state house. After discovering this we had a long chat with some people who are definitely dumb founded! They are because they could not even know the reason pushing Yahya Jammeh towards resorting to ordering “SNAKES” into the state house? He knows why anyway. He did it to satisfy his desire spiritually. Verily the NIA Files does not joke. Yahya's marabout will be shocked because his own people spoke to us!This snake is right there in the state house being prepared for occult missions! People who are knowledgeable in such matters know how desperate despots like Jammeh try using anything to stay in power.

HALAKE CLEARS PA MBAI!!!

Legal Opinion

Mr. Amadou Samba (Claimant)

V.

Pa Nderry Mbai (Publisher of Freedom newspaper)

Dear Pa Mbai,

In the Free Speech Act reproduced below, the United States Congress states as follows at Section 2, Para 4:-

The First Amendment jurisprudence of the Supreme Court, articulated in such precedents as New York Times v. Sullivan, 376 U.S. 254 (1964), and its progeny, reflects the fundamental value that Americans place on promoting the free exchange of ideas and information, requiring in cases involving public figures a demonstration of actual malice--that is, that allegedly defamatory, libellous, or slanderous statements about public figures are not merely false but made with knowledge of that falsity or with reckless disregard of their truth or falsity.”

Gambia: UDP-UK’s Rejoinder: Let’s draw lesson from NADD and move on to address the demands for democratic change

UDP-UK’s Rejoinder: Let’s draw lesson from NADD and move on to address the demands for democratic change

The Executive Committee of the United Democratic Party [UK Chapter] has reviewed PDOIS’s Public Notice of 15th August 2010 and noticed that PDOIS didn’t disagree with our position that NADD was designed to be an alliance as per the terms of the Memorandum of Understanding [MOU] that established it. They, in fact, implicitly agreed with us in that respect by way of repeated reference to NADD as an alliance. We therefore consider that aspect of our dispute resolved. The question that now arises is this; can an alliance be registered under our electoral laws for the purpose of contesting and sponsoring candidates in public elections? The answer is a definite no. We have explained how Section 60 of the Constitution prohibits any such venture from taking place and therefore do not need to repeat that. We have also explained how NADD came to be registered as a political party. We do not need to repeat that too. People can refer to our Press Release of 31st July 2010 for background information.
