London Based Rights Group Secretary General Salutes Freedom Radio!

Says Freedom Radio Has Been Embedded In The Minds And Hearts Of Gambians

“I have listened to your Radio and news coverage programmes regularly. I have had occasion to liaise with groupings and individuals Gambian and otherwise, and can assure your firm that you are reaching parts of our communities and allied interests you might not even imagine,” Abdulai Jobe, Secretary General of Gambian Coalition of Human Rights Defenders United Kingdom.

…………………………………………………………………..

Dear Pa Nderry,

I have listened to your Radio and news coverage programmes regularly. I have had occasion to liaise with groupings and individuals Gambian and otherwise, and can assure your firm that you are reaching parts of our communities and allied interests you might not even imagine. Your coverage of Gambian situations continue to enlighten, inform and provoke critical thought at a time when this is essential. Needless to advise that you will have your detractors and fear/opportunist-driven advisors, who will try to pull you back from a critical job your firm, is engaged into them I say back off.

President Jammeh Fires Prosecutor Assigned To GAMCOTRAP Case!

As Ben Jammeh Writes To President Jammeh Complaining!

The high profile theft case involving the GAMCOTRAP officials is likely to be stalled for somtime because President Yahya Jammeh has fired the prosecutor assigned to the case Chief Superintendent of police Tijan Badjie, the Freedom Newspaper can report.  Mr. Badjie, received his dismissal letter yesterday before close of business. He was informed in the said letter that his services with The Gambia Police Force has been terminated, although no reason was given for his removal.  Sources familiar with Mr. Badjie’s removal said the former prosecutor‘s dismissal followed a letter written to President Yahya Jammeh by Ben Jammeh, the Director General of National Drug Enforcement Agency, who told the President that the state risked losing the GAMCOTRAP case if Mr. Badjie’s continues to prosecute the case. Ben’s contention was that Mr. Badjie is not deligently pursuing the matter, and that his biological ties with the jailed former Inspector General of police Essa Badjie is a claer indication that he  (Tijan Badjie) is likely to undermine the state in this matter.

Treason Witnesses Freed In The Gambia

As President Jammeh Compensates Each Witness WithUS30,000

By Staff Reporter Bakary Gibba, Banjul

Authorities in The Gambia have released the three key witnesses in the November 2009 coup led by former Army Chief General Lang Tombong Tamba, after President Yahya Jammeh reportedly compensated them with $30,000 US Dollars each, highly placed NIA sources in Banjul told the Freedom Newspaper.  The $30,000 dollars compensation was seen as a move to thank the witnesses for standing by the state during what many here in Banjul called the  cooked up coup attempt.  According to intelligence sources, the star witness Ebrima Marreh, Kabiro Saidykhan and Rui Jabbie Gassama have been released from custody. The men were confined at a Kanifing home all this while, sources said. The move according to NIA sources, was meant to protect the witnesses from being harmed by the relatives of the convicted coupists, who might be angry with them for linking their loved ones to treasonable offences.

In Defense of My DEAR LEADER

By Fankung Fankung

Dear Editor,

Please allow me some space to fend off some of the attacks on OUR DEAR LEADER  Professor Sheikh Alhagie Yahya Jammeh. Many reports and opinions in your blog/paper are false. People who support the broken opposition write these reports/opinions. Instead of debating on how to solve the current state of the Gambian opposition and the failure of its leadership, they blame Professor Jammeh for all their problems. Professor Jammeh is doing a great job and many in Africa and around the world have recognized this.

The warning bells should have been sounding loud and clear. Just three weeks before Mary Cotnoir’s wedding day, her 25-year-old husband-to-be, Mr Demba Sanneh from Gambia, was denied a visa to visit her in the UK. The Home Office said her fiancé had failed to give a ‘credible explanation’ for his trip and was deeply suspicious of his true motives.  So what did Mary, a 59-year-old grandmother, do? Did she take stock and accept that her toyboy lover — a man nearly 35 years her junior — was not entirely honourable? Did she even consider postponing her nuptials until she could be absolutely sure of him?

Food of love: Unlikely couple Mary and Demba on their big day. Almost as soon as she signed the register the relationship started to unravel

One Billion Cocaine Case Heard About Horrific Torture Stories Made By  A Venezuelan Suspect!

By Staff Reporter Bolong Jammeh

They  the (security officers) covered my head with plastic bag to the extent I could not breathe.  I was receiving blows all over my body from different direction. I was taken to three places when we were arrested; first to the drug enforcement agency, NIA and Mile 2. I cannot remember all what had happened due to the circumstances I found myself in but lot of terrible things happened at the time I was taken to drug agency. I could remember I made a statement at the NIA, but it was not in the conference hall,” he disclosed, noting that he was treated as a gentleman at NIA,” These were the exact words of Rudy Rasoehamid Ghazi, a Venezuelan, also the main prime suspect in Gambia’s one billion dollar worth of cocaine case. He was speaking in court yesterday in Banjul.

THE GAMBIA UNDER THREAT—Writes Mai Fatty GMC Leader

OP ED - BY MAI AHMAD FATTY

I am extremely concerned about confirmed reports of arsenals of war being littered around our Nation´s southern frontier. Settlements near the Cassamance border, and sometimes within our national territory are awashed with dangerous arms reputedly from Cassamance, apparently abandoned in the bushes by fleeing rebels. Some of these armaments are recovered by Gambian villagers and forwarded to Gambian law enforcement. No one has so far been able to account for all of the abandoned arms and armunition or where they end up within our territory.
