The Next Narco State: The Future of Guinea-Bissau?

By Scott A Morgan

The last few months have been an interesting time in the area known as the Casamance Region. Earlier this year the Army of Guinea-Bissau launched an Offensive that drove one Faction of the MFDC (Movement of the Democratic Forces of the Casamance). Away from its main base of Operations. The offensive created fears of a potential clash with either Senegal or the Gambia. At least 7 members of the Group are now in a Gambian Jail but that appears to be just the tip of the iceberg....

Breaking News: The Big Interview: Senegalese Journalist Accuses President Wade Of "Causing Religious Difference" in Senegal!!
Thursday, November 29, 2007 (2217 reads)

President Abdoulie Wade of Senegal has been accused of causing religious division amongst Senegalese, especially between the Mourits and Tijanias. The African senior statesman who is currently busy trying to reconcile dictator Mugabe with his opposition has been blamed for Senegal’s religious indifference. The accusations were made by Veteran Radio Broadcaster Souelayman Mboub. Mr. Mboup who was the Head of the Sud FM Radio Banjul charged that the Senegalese leader was partly responsible for Senegal’s religious difference. “My first reservation is that I don’t trust President Wade economically for all his achievements. That’s number one reason. Number two, the Senegalese society is now divided. People were not divided during President Diouf’s era in terms of religion. But today, Senegal has been unjustly and dangerously divided between Mourits and Tijans. We know such things under Abdou Diouf’s Government. But with Wade’s Government, there is a big division amongst religious leaders. There is a division between Mourits and Tijans. “ said the leading Senegalese Journalist. Mr. Moup says beside creating religious difference in Senegal, President Wade was also trying impose his son Karim Wade to Senegalese as his next successors. Mboup says Senegalese would strongly oppose such “civilized” way of monarchial rule. “By reading and listening to the news, what’s going on in Senegal, that’s absolutely what it sounds. I’m old, I’m tied and I’m going to live this country with my son and we are not going to take that.” said Mr.Mboup. Below is the full text of the part two version of the interview we had with Mr.Mboup.

A Failed Gambian President Versus A Failed State-Part Two

Extra-judicial killings has been a common feature under President Yahya Jammeh’s rule. The regime survives on terror and mayhem. In a bid to cling onto power, The Gambia leader ruled the impoverished West African country with an iron hands. He ordered for the killing of perceived political opponents, torture, jailing, abduction and forced exile. The Gambia to some extent, can be compared to Rwanda in terms of genocidal acts perpetrated by Government agents in the name of protecting national security. Some of the atrocities committed by Jammeh and his agents had been documented, while some cases of gross human rights violations were grossly underreported. Such cases include: Disappearances, torture of inmates, secret killings and domestic terrorism. The Government of day has been linked to so many organized crimes taking place in the country. Such crimes were aimed at targeting political opponents.

UN Dismisses Gambia’s Request To Have Taiwan Admitted Into The Global Body!!

……..Foreign Ministry Official Says Taiwan Spend close to Half A Million Dollars in The Gambia just to Canvass For Support!!

UN General Assembly Never Recognizes Taiwan As A Sovereign Nation

By Justice Sam, Banjul.

The United Nations has dismissed a request forwarded by the Jammeh administration to have Taiwan admitted into the Global Body, the Freedom Newspaper can reveal. Diplomatic sources close to corridors of power in Banjul said Gambia’s request to have Taiwan admitted into the UN was rejected due to lack of compelling evidence which should warrant the Islanders to have voice on UN matters. Foreign Ministry officials in Banjul described the latest diplomatic twist as a major setback on Gambia’s quest to canvass for support for Taiwan, a nation whose sovereignty is highly contested at the UN. The Global Body believe that Taiwan was still part and parcel of Main Land China and therefore cannot be admitted into the UN.
