The Gambia Radio and Television Services is without its Managing
Director,Modou Sanyang, who has been forced to take leave from work
due to the deterioration of his cancer. A source embedded in the four walls of GRTS has informed Freedom Newspaper that the man is only in the position by name as his condition does not allow him to undertake any serious work. He added for good measure: “In fact, he has not been coming to work since his presentation of our annual report to the National Assembly. He just used the appearance as an opportunity to show people he is in good health. But the tell-tale signs and his involuntary body movements showed he is suffering under the ravages of cancer. GRTS has become a dysfunctional institution riddled with incompetent journalists who only sit around gossiping and chasing each other around. Those who could make the institution stand out have been pushed out to the like Kebba Dibba.Modou Sanyang and Malick Jones have been exchanging the girls in the office like clothes whom they give promotion.”

Human Intel: MFDC Leadership Wants To Engage Senegalese government For Peace Talks, But Jammeh Is The Main Stumbling Block For Peace!

The Senegalese government should not give up on its efforts to engage the MFDC rebels into peace negotiations. The MFDC said it is interested in engaging Macky Sall and his team for talks, but dictator Yahya Jammeh is the one frustrating them. Jammeh doesn’t want the MFDC to engage the Sall government into peace talks without his involvement. Jammeh wants to be the chief mediator as usual, or otherwise the MFDC will close their doors for peace talks with Senegal. But within the MFDC leadership, there is unity among the rebels to engage the Macky government for talks. The information we are about to report is coming from Jammeh’s Interior Minister Ousman Sonko, an MFDC chief strategist and coordinator in the Gambia. Mr. Sonko spoke to one of our sources close to the government about the activities of the MFDC in the Gambia, his involvement in managing the affairs of the rebels, and Jammeh’s support for the MFDC wing running offices in the heart of the Gambia. Mr. Sonko also complained to our agent about Oga Jammeh lying to him. He said Jammeh at some point promised to appoint him as a Vice President. During the period in question, Jammeh had problems with Isatou Njie Saidy.

EX APRC MP DEMBA DEM ALLEGES THAT GAMBIA’S VICE PRESIDENT ISATOU NJIE SAIDY WAS IMPLICATED IN THE MARCH COUP

Mr. Demba Dem, a former APRC Member of Parliament has alleged that Gambia’s Vice President Isatou Njie Saidy was implicated in the March 2006 foiled coup, in which the erstwhile Army Chief of Defense Staff Colonel Ndure Cham plotted to overthrow the administration of dictator Yahya Jammeh. Speaking on Freedom Radio on Monday, Mr. Dem, who was brutally tortured in the wake of the foiling of the March coup said the original statements that were taken from Malafi Corr, Lt. Ebou Lowe, and the rest of the executed detainees by the panel tasked to investigate the coup allegedly suggests that the Vice President was aware of the coup. Mr. Demb alleged that Interior Minister Ousman Sonko and Lang Tombong Tamba intervened to ask the investigators to tear (destroy) the statements taken from the coup suspects. “I was at the NIA when Interior Minister Ousman Sonko and the former CDS Lang Tombong Tamba ordered the investigators to destroy the statements that were taken from Malafi Corr, Ebou Lowe, Alpha Bah, and others since the Vice President’s name came up during the investigations. The original statements taken from the late detainees suggest that the Vice President was aware of the coup,” Demba Dem alleged.
