Edward Singhatey side lined or being kicked on the sides?
Even whereas there are people who hate this dude, one must admit that the chap has been steadfast. He has been steady on the course when it comes to doing away with rampant corruption and flamboyant life styles, some of which was inherited from the PPP. The negative on Edu's story is that...In every political era public figures like him have stigmas running after them.In Edu's case his stigma is the death of Koro Ceesay. There are doubts lingering over his head about it.
EDU WITH JAMMEH!!!!
However, there are the same doubts lingering over the heads of Yankuba and President Jammeh himsef! Both Edward and President went to Dippakunda Kunda to show their sadness and then mourn with Master Sainey Ceesay's family. On the very day when Koro Ceesay was being buried everybody saw Edward in his light blue 'Mbassen kaftan' following the mourners at the Dippa Kunda Mosque. He was there listening to the sermons of late Imam Kaaly Omar Jaiteh. Koro's sister I believe she is called Yamundow was so furious! She crying bitterly, saying a lot against the Jammeh regime. The puzzle which is still in some minds is...why was Edward there before Jammeh came back from Ethiopia?
Why would he be there if he hated Koro so much or if he was convinced that he is seen as the real killer of late Koro? There could be many reasons,it is only Edward and his creator who can answer that question. Koro is dead but we must confess that his ghost has strong powers. Edward was unfortunate because he was the one who had sour relations with Koro Ceesay just before the guy died.
This of course does not mean it has been proven beyond reasonable doubt that, he either killed Koro directly or killed him from a remote distance. All we can say is that Koro's case versus his killers is till based on circumstancial evidence. Where there are suspects there should be a trial. The law says..one is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. If Edward is innocent (in case) then who should be on the witness box other Jammeh,Yankuba and Ebou Jallow?
Is President Jammeh not also an alibi?
Not many Gambians are convinced that President Jammeh himself is not an alibi in Koro's murder. So many theories have been advanced in in that light. There are people whom we heard saying President Jammeh said "let him drink black coffee" before he left for Ethiopia on that fateful day Koro's soul was brutally taken away from him.
Jammeh was not happy with Koro either because Koro wanted to go ahead and read the budget speech as it was just a few months after Jammeh took over power.A few months after Jammeh was there our nation's economy started shrinking at an alarming rate.During those we remember political heavy weights like OJ predicting that civil servants were not going to receive salaries after 3 months. OJ had more experience on governance than the boys at that time.He was right.
The monies in the safes were being taken away to be saved into foreign accounts, because the AFPRC were so paranoid as the future of the military gang was not the least certain. After staying in there for a few months,Jammeh and team heard about possibilities in Taiwan. That was a big catch so they used this route to maintain the civil servants. These very holes Koro wanted to expose in the interest of the nation.Ultimately it cost him his life.President Jammeh can never say he knows nothing about Koro's death. He does know something,he has to say something.
The price that comes with teaming with Kiti Jabang,Jawara and others.
There is of course a price that comes with what Jammeh did during the past weeks. He may not admit it but he will see what we mean sooner than he thinks so.This will cost Jammeh a lot.His party has already lost hope in him. Most of them are simply singing praises but they are fed up.
Today we heard someone who can shake Jammeh say this..."now that he does not care about the nation's interest, let him also not relax....Jammeh has disgraced all of us..."
I could not stop thinking about this statement the whole night.Of course even Jammeh was to win the 2006 elections him ruling The Gambia smoothly will never be possible anymore.Infact the aftermath of the 2006 elections is really scary for our country's future if Jammeh wants to continue running the show. These old PPP guard may as well not mean well for Jammeh at all.
They will never ever forget the way he disgraced them in the eyes of their wives, kids and neighbours. They will let go that part.Jammeh may be thinking he has done it again but he is far from winning these people's hearts and minds. We have been listening to reactions in the streets during this week but to be candid we believe Jammeh is running a long mine field. He will never be able to avoid all these mines. He must tred or nodge on one very soon.
