Fire incident in Kanilai?
Of course no one draws any pleasure out of incidents like this. Particularly where it has been reported that a fire service officer lost his life? Our determined sources are doing a fantastic job these days.As I was finishing my supper this evening a friend of mine who sells kolanuts at Tabokoto market stopped by on his old raleigh bike.He had a concerned face when he was approaching me and my two year old kid.I could not continue playing with the kiddy anymore because I was completely distracted by this friend of mine.
If a man who usually approaches me with a smile comes all of a sudden in that mood this should certainly arouse my curious senses. As soon as his foot left the bike's pedals he asked me if I heard the news? I replied-"which news boy?" there and then my old friend started his narations.
"Fire in Kanilai! a friend of mine who works with someone at the fire service department said he was rushing to attend the funeral of an officer who died while putting of those flames in Kanilai.I was told the guy was trying to rush towards his post of duty.Unfortunately there was a deep well or ditch nearby.Him and another fire service officer fell in that hole. While others were busy putting of the flames no one realized that this men were struggling for their lives in that dark hole.
After a long struggle the second fireman climbed out of the hole to a point where he was seen by others.Immediately after they saw his face come out of that hole he was helped and rescued. So sad...because he informed the people helping him that another person was there.
This man's fate was destined to end in that hole. When they reached the poor guy he was already dead.He broke his back and other parts of the body to the extent that he could not simply survive the accident..": This is what my friend narated while sobbing...
During the conversation I was able to gather that the deceased was stationed at Kanilai Fire Service Department.
One thing is questionable ie the fire incident? But the rest is an open secret.Every Gambian knows that Kanilai has three main things that are hard to achieve in any other part of The Gambia. These are a 24 hour electricity service,an effective fire service station and food sufficiency.
Has FJC been warned to keep quiet or else?
Rumours are rife that Fatou Jahumpa Ceesay has been warned by President Jammeh to keep her mouth tight? Is it true? I have been told by those I drink warga with everyday. We hope and pray that this lady will not fall fits because she loves praising the President more than food.
Nevertheless, life in Banjul today is so confusing especially for her and the brother. They are pretending but not all that secure in their portfolios.During the coming days we will know what is what?
