Hummers to Bissau still no solution? Why is President Jammeh's own mouth his enemy number one?
The
Gambia's President's enemy number one is his own mouth. President
Jammeh might have forgotten what he did and said but Nino hasn't. When
Nino Viera was removed from power many people believed he lived in
Lisbon Portugal but that wasn't the actual case. He used to visit
Lisbon and had good links there but his base was in Guinea Conakry. He
was residing at a place called Belle Vue. This is an area where the
late President Sekou Toure built villas to welcome African heads of
state during an OAU summit. These villas are still there being used for
the same purpose that is,welcoming heads of state on either private or
official visits to Guinea.
Nino Viera
during his days as refugee was lodged there. He was treated with
dignity and respect by his neighbour President Lansana Conteh. These
were the days when President Jammeh called him a spent force!
President
Jammeh refused to either go and pay a courtesy call to Nino or invite
him for a simple luncheon, during those days. A very ungrateful
arrogant person...
President
Jammeh never payed attention to those who advised him to either invite
Nino or pay him a courtesy call during those days. President Jammeh
used to stay in the same places within a villa next to Nino but he
refused to either receive or meet Nino. He yelled on those who advised
him to do so. He said to them that Nino was a spent force so he had
nothing to do with him. This was one of the worst and most despicable
actions from Jammeh. He was so ungrateful to say that. Nino Viera was
one of the first African or world leaders who embraced Jammeh when he
came to power in 1994. In 1995 President Jammeh flew to Bissau on board
a plane he borrowed from former President Charles Taylor.He was
so eager to meet and be advised by Nino on issues that were meant to be
more favourable to him than they were to Nino. I can still remember
when I met a friend at the airport. He was on an advanced party to
Bissau during those days. I was by then traveling to Lagos on a
business trip. For President Jammeh to call Nino a spent force is not only despicable but shameless and irresponsible.
President Jammeh uses Hummers he bought for the AU Summit to get Kukoie back....? Shock and shame after all...
President
Jammeh's own mouth implicates him. He thought that using material and
money was enough to lure Nino into his net of evil plans. This back
fired.
According to a source I met
today President Jammeh is bragging every where saying he will get Nino
on his knees because Nino is so desperate. He has vowed to corrupt Nino
with latest hummers and money to be able to get Kukoie,Badjie and Jobe
repatriated to Banjul as mercenaries and enemies of the state!
However,until
this evening sources have revealed that Nino is yet to accept Jammeh's
bribe and condescending way of doing things. This rude shock has left
President Jammeh dumb founded and sad. It is reported that President
Jammeh has started using Lansana Conteh as "broker" in this deal. He
wants Conteh to prevail on Nino so that Viera can hand over these
people Jammeh calls mercenaries ready to kill him.
President Jammeh is trying to snub Dakar in this because he says Wade and his team are the ones who mix him with Viera?
Anyway President Jammeh will realize his sad miscalculations very soon.
