 Unimpeachable sources close to the Jahumpa family say Fatou Jahumpa Ceesay has been complaining about the way the Gambian leader humiliated her brother Balla Gaba Jahumpa. Fatou Jahumpa was quoted as saying that Balla spent days and night in the upcountry canvassing for votes for the Gambian President only to be sacked. According to the source FJC'S expectation to get a Ministerial job was also shattered as the President never named her in his new cabinet appointment. Balla Jahumpa is a blood brother to Fatou Jahumpa Ceesay. Balla's sacking according to the source I spoke today has been greeted with rude shock by the Jahumpa family who are openly accusing President Jammeh of being a betrayer. "Balla and his family including FJC are very angry. At a family meeting were they met to urge Balla to continue to put his faith in God, FJC said the APRC was being undermined by people who harbored hatred against Banjulians. She told Balla to keep the faith while threatening that those who conspired against Balla will soon face the consequences. Looking at the lady, I can read that she way very upset with Jammeh's decision to remove her brother."said a source who visited Balla shortly after his removal.
Like Balla, FJC too was also removed from her state house press sectary job years back. It took sometime before FJC left the state house, as the news of her removal sounded unbelievable to her. Her departure was kind of humiliating as she was stopped by soldiers from entering office. FJC known for her sycophancy games, never gave up her quest to win Jammeh's favor. She quickly reorganized herself and started running after the President. She was later named as a nominated MP for the ruling party. Last week, FJC told a mutual friend that HE Jammeh was going to name her a Minister in his next cabinet reshuffle. But her Ministerial dream shattered since Jammeh had decided to let her brother go.
Balla Jahumpa during the Presidential campaign lambasted NADD'S Halifa Sallah describing him as a shady man bent on hijacking NADD. Jahumpa believes that Sallah lured the opposition to register NADD as a political party with the sole aim of heading the new party. Our source said Balla shed tears when a group of family members and sympathizers called at him yesterday. A speechless Balla Jahumpa was seen twisting his head while tears could be seen running his checks. One family member commented "Balla Muinal, Yalla Bahna." meaning that Balla should bear and continue to put his faith in God.
At his age, Balla is not married. He is also not blessed with a kid. Those who know him say the former Minister's greatest hobby was drinking licko and smoking. Now that he has lost his ministerial job many believe that Balla is likely to go astray. Beside stress and trauma, the Minister would also find it hard to sustain himself. With all the controversies associated with him said the source, Balla don't own a house of his own.
