Dear Mr. Editor,
Towncrier decided to wait until now to express yet another opinion. Yahya Jammeh is no fool but its the Gambian people who don't seem to get it. We don't learn our life lessons well . So Yahya has every right to football us.Yahya is a Con-Artist and its about time we Gambians know this.Yahya has recycled civil servants like used soda cans and still others are offering themselves to be grilled. It's like integrity is dead here in Gambia. People no longer look at what will happen to them tomorrow but rather they look at monetary rewards. I wish Thomas Sankara will come out of his grave and teach these god damn so- called revolutionaries about what revolution is all about. Its about turning things around towards the right direction. But what has this govt. turned around right since 1994 if it's not their poor economic conditions? Sometimes I feel like we Gambians here have been bewitched by Yahya's numerous marabouts. We tend to believe lies and reject the truth.
Life surprises only those who refuse to learn from history. Trust me, Yahya has not fired all of these ministers who have been relieved from their posts. I can loudly and boldly tell you this, Susan and Kaba Badjo will bounce back as international appointees. For others, I have no idea. I am sure Susan will be the last person Yahya will fire despite her ineptitude to handle some of the ministerial posts she handled so as has been evident since she came on board the mis-managed "foni ship type of a government". So there is something bigger in store for I am tempted to believe.
When I sometimes look at our cabinet ministers and the jobs they are handling it seems to me that we are trying to fit square pegs into round holes. How can Yanks handle Agriculture, Susan who studied librarianship handles fisheries, tourism and so forth and least of all Yahya handling NAWEC???. Give me a break!!! How do you do your job if you are not informed in the post you are occupying? How can you fly a plane if you have not learnt how to? These are questions that beat my imagination and I am sure it does for many of you. All we have are misfits. It like the case of choosing an Imam to run the Catholic Church and choosing the Bishop to run the Islamic Council. Isn't this strange? Yet this is what we are experiencing here in Gambia. I may have to stop here until another time. I have many in store and the towncrier will keep crying until the villagers listen. Good day and keep up the good job.
TOWNCRIER.
