Breaking News:I left Office With My Reputation intact-Says former Justice Minister Bensouda!
Gambia's former Attorney General and Secretary of State For Justice Fatou Bensouda has reacted to Baati Jollof's recent piece, in which he claimed that the former Minister was being branded as a "liar" by the Jammeh government. In a statement, the former Justice Secretary rejected Baati Jollof's assertions in the strongest terms. Mrs.Bensouda says her credibility was intact when she left office and therefore challenges anyone who doubted her claim to prove her wrong. Below is the full text of Madam Bensouda's letter addressed to the editor of the Freedom Newspaper. Please read on....

Dear Pa Nderry,

I hope you and yours are well. Your article was brought to my attention. I have the following reaction to it. 1. I think it is incorrect to say that I was branded a liar by the Jammeh Government. I want to put on the record that contrary to what your source might have fed you, I have never told any lies to anybody or against anybody to gain my position as Attorney General. It was a position I never lobbied for.

 2. To brand someone would imply that there was some form of public characterisation to that effect, to date, I have not seen that characterisation in any form. I believe I left with my reputation intact.

 3. I do not see how my sacking was different from that of my predecessor's. I was written to to leave, just like she was. If you know anything in addition apart from the fact that both our terminations were announced -like they do with all others, do let me know. 3. Subsequently, I was approached to take back the position of A.G. I dont think this would have been the case if the Govt considered me in the light of your article. I just wanted to set the records straight. Otherwise I have nothing against you or anybody else for that matter.

 Regards Fatou Fatou Bensouda

Editors note: Sister Fatou, we entirely agree with your above assertions. We never doubted your credibility at any given time. The said piece was authored by Baati Jollof. It does not  represent the position of the Freedom Newspaper in any way. We must admit that it was an editorial oversight from our end not to issue a disclaimer at the end of  his piece. Thanks for setting the records straight. Have a great day.
