It was a somber day in Banjul, as Aviation workers received the deported wife of the country's Fisheries Minister Mami Minteh Touray, who was deported from the United States by the US Immigration and Custom officials this past week, the Freedom Newspaper can authoritatively report. Mrs.Minteh who landed at the
Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in Atlanta Georgia accompanied by her younger sister Wouday Minteh on board a Delta Airline flight was refused entry into the United States, as she was said to have violated her visitor's visa conditions, which "do not gave her the legal permission to work" whilst in this country. The disgraced Minister's wife who was rendered speechless after a deportation order was handed to her to leave the country was held for couples of hours prior to her removal from the US. Though, her younger sister Wouday Minteh was allowed entry into the country, who is said to be presently residing in Atlanta Georgia.

The Freedom Newspaper received a news tip-off  two weeks prior to Mami's visit to the US. Our source hinted that the lady who used to lodge in Raleigh NC, has this time around decided to stay in Atlanta, where one of Minister Touray's brothers  is residing. However, her hopes of entry into the US was dashed away when US Immigration officials discovered that Mami Minteh over stayed her welcome in this country during her last visit. The Minister's wife who was engaged in "hair braiding work" and the sale of the local Gambian fish called"Gejah." was informed about the decision to deny her entry into the US. She was consequently deported to the Gambia, where she is presently being visited by a group of sympathizers, family members, loved ones and acquaintances.

According to Aviation sources, Mami Touray was received by her husband Fisheries Minister Yankuba Touray, who was said to be in tears, when he set his eyes on his wife who was documented as a deportee from the US by local  Aviation arrival and departure clerks. Mami who faces "TEN YEARS" ban from the US for having violated her previous visitor's visa conditions had two American sons. The circumstances surrounding her visit  to the US was not yet clear, but sources say Minister Touray usually sent his wife to the US to deliver in a bid to secure US Citizenship for his loved ones. Capitalizing on her husband's Diplomatic status, Mami travels extensively across the globe.

It's imperative to note that Mami Minteh  was arrested three years ago in the United kingdom, after she was linked to smuggling Tobacco. Thanks to her husband Yankuba Touray, she was bailed out from the British law enforcement authorities. She was fined and made to pay several thousands of pound starlings  or risked being jailed. After paying the fine, the Minster's wife was asked to leave Britain, Gambia's former colony. Her removal from the UK was a subject of discussion in the tiny West African country.Since then she had been targeting the US, where she was recently handed with deportation orders.

The Freedom Newspaper in the recent past publishes numerous well researched stories regarding the Minister's wife dubious activities in a bid to dupe the US Health Care system with her past fake Medicaid declarations during her previous visits here to deliver. Angered by our revelations, Mrs.Minteh Touray accuses a Raleigh SeneGambian woman of being an informant to the Editor of this leading paper. Upon her return to Banjul Mami telephoned the said lady name withheld calling her with all  kinds of names.

While the Touray family is  trying to down play the embarrassing reception meted out to Mami Minteh, it is now clear that the days of corrupt Gambian officials using the US as a safe heaven is over. We invite our readers to brows this WhiteHouse link:

President Bush in a speech last year reaffirmed his government's commitment to tackle global graft."
For too long, the culture of corruption has undercut development and good governance and bred criminality and mistrust around the world. High-level corruption by senior government officials, or kleptocracy, is a grave and corrosive abuse of power and represents the most invidious type of public corruption. It threatens our national interest and violates our values. It impedes our efforts to promote freedom and democracy, end poverty, and combat international crime and terrorism. Kleptocracy is an obstacle to democratic progress, undermines faith in government institutions, and steals prosperity from the people. Promoting transparent, accountable governance is a critical component of our freedom agenda."Said Mr.Bush in a statement which was centered on the National Strategy to International Efforts Against KleptocracyTo access President Bush's full statement, we refer you to this link: http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2006/08/20060810-1.html

Meanwhile, US lobbyist John Aycoth is reacting to the deportation of Mami Minteh Touray. Mr.Aycoth who recently called for a visas sanctions against the Jammeh administration told the Freedom Newspaper that the US Immigration and Custom officials acted "right by denying the Minister's wife entry into this country." Aycoth who had a pending half a million dollars damages law suit case against the Gambian government says he was pleased to learn about the deportation of the Minister's wife."I think that the US is doing a proper job in focusing on these corrupt Gambian officials inside the United States from the Gambia. This decision is inline with my efforts to educate the US government officials concerning corrupt Gambian officials in the United States. This is a turning point in our efforts to deny corrupt Gambian officials and their spouses into the US." Aycoth told the Freedom Newspaper.

Mr.Aycoth says the time has come for the US government, the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the World Bank, the United Nations and other pro democracy groups to pay a special attention on the corrupt and despotic Jammeh administration. He says the Government of the Gambia had appalling democratic and rights credentials. For Aycoth, he believes that the US needs to intensify its efforts to screen corrupt Gambian officials using the US as a safe heaven. He commended the Bush administration for taking such a stance. Mr.Aycoth says the impoverished Gambian population have  been taken into ransom by a dictator who cares only about his personal interest and not the general welfare of the average Gambian. He urges the US authorities to keep up the good work and deny corrupt Gambian officials entry into this country.

A Freedom Newspaper contacted Minister Yankuba Touray for his side of the story on the deportation of his wife from the US, but Touray insist to know the paper's source of information. Touray who was not in the mood to talk about the subject matter asked"Where do you the story? Who told you that my wife was deported." Mr.Touray who was reached on his cellular phone confirms that his wife was in the Gambia, but tried to offer more comments on the deportation story.

A family member told the Freedom Newspaper that in view of the damning US decision to send Mami packing, Touray was not at liberty to elaborate on his wife's deportation while citing family values. That Touray was bound to undermine his matrimonial life if he ever discusses the deportation of his wife.

Yankuba Touray's cellular phone later went dead due to poor connection. He  was still adamant to know the Freedom Newspaper source. But our reporter pointed out to him that the story was accurate, reliable and undisputable. The Freedom Newspaper correspondent pointed out to him that he was merely contacted to give his side of the story in interest of fair and objective reporting.
