The Expelled UNDP Resident Coordinator is on her way out of the country, following a 24 hours ultimatum given to her by the Gambian Government to leave the former British colony, the Gambia.Ms.Fadzai Gwarazima who was declared persona non grata by the Jammeh government amidst her critical comments of Jammeh's aids cure, was this week wished a speedy departure to her destination by the Gambian authorities for what they call her irresponsible statements about Jammeh's Aids cure. She earlier on granted an interview to Sky News of South Africa about the much-hyped Jammeh solution to Aids.

The authorities were furious with Ms Zimba because her interview with Sky News was deemed as casting doubt over the President's claim." Ms Zimba's statements were irresponsible.Unlike her predecessors, she has in fact achieved nothing ever since she came to the country.We therefore wish her a speedy departure from Banjul," the authorities say in a statement issued Thursday.

It could be noted that Ms Zimba, in her interview with Sky News, pointed out that more scientific evidence were needed to support the president's claim for Aids cure. Ms.Zimba who was head of the UN system in the Gambia maintains that Jammeh's aids cure story was likely to cause risky behaviours in the impoverished West African country, where youths and women account for the greater number of hiv infected patients.The woman earlier pointed out that there was no scientific discovery made yet for the cure of aids and therefore warned the dangers posed by the President's claims. Angered by the UN Chief's comments, the government resorted to ordering her to leave the country.
