  Editor,
I am on the one hand bewildered and on other flagabasted by this English man by the name of Michael Scales who wasted energy, time, and efforts to paint a false, cruel, malicious and fallacious image of Dr. Taal, the Observer Company, Managing Director, President Jammeh and the whole country at large. I think he was merely hallowing and wallowing in self deception which ultimately showed in his article and subsequently rendered and exposed the falacy of his imaginary article. Unluckily for him we are no fools. And if this is what Mr. Scales thought we are then he has succeeded in raising his myopic and arrogant thoughts, consequently, casting a doubt on his intellectuality, academic honesty and henceforth exposing his own short sightedness.

ost appealing about the whole scenario is his claim of being a defendant of the Gambia and Gambians. Are Gambians so indefensive so as to wait for someone to defend them? Better still, how could a man whose country abused, exploited and degenerated half of the globe for more than three hundred years stand to be the defendant of tiny country like the Gambia? If there is anything interesting in his article, it is obviously this one. Certainly, I would think that if he wants work for himself, this is enough for him. In fact the exploitative world system which is largely as a result of the consequences of the system created by his own country is enough to keep him preoccupied and busy.

Dr. Taal is a Gambian of high academic caliber and timbre. He is one of those few Gambians who have decided to forgo western riches and flashy ways of life to sacrifice for his country. His contributions to national development are enormous and vivid for all to see and bear witness. I for one have known Dr Taal for many years now and so I no better than this Mr. Scales who Dr. Taal is. In fact, the interesting part of it all is that Dr. Taal has never met this English fellow who claims to know him. If such a man can make such false statements, who are we to believe him?

If Mr Scales want cheap publicity and popularity, he should do it in a decent way not in a witch hunting manner. We have been told time and time again that ‘DO NOT BELIEVE FALSE WITNESS AGAINST THY NEIGHBOUR.’ And the fact that he has wished ill of his fellow human being tells everything about him. And for his information, Dr. Taal is a hardworking fellow who believes in productivity. This is what he has brought to the Observer Company. He has made Observer more productive, creative, open minded and ethical. This we know fully well more than any other person.
