An accident involving a ministerial cavalcade has claimed one life and caused a life-threatening injury to a cameraman, we can authoritatively reveal. Cabinet Minister Yankuba Touray's motorcade was involved in a road crash that claimed the life of a Bakoteh youth, Pa Bobo and also caused one Lamin Saidy a dislocation of the arm and leg. Yankuba Touray did not however sustain any srious injury according to sources. The Agriculture Minister who  escaped death was has been recounting the car crash story to his family, loved ones and aquaintances. The cause of the accident, that occurred around Kerewan over the weekends, was not yet known but the dead body and the injured were rushed to the Royal Victoria Teaching Hospital in Banjul for post-mortem and medical attention .

Meanwhile, police are investigating the car crash, which resulted to the death of Pa Bobo. The Gambia is currently faced by deplorable road conditions. Most of the major roads are bad in conditions. Police blames the accidents to reckless driving, over speeding and bad road network across the impoverished West African country.

A retired Army Captain, Minister Touray had a bad new year start with the deportation of his wife Mami Touray Minteh from the US by the United States Immigration officials. Mrs. Touray who was denied entry upon arrival at an Atlana airport was said to have violated her previous visitors visas issued to her. The Ministers wife was said said to have over stayed while in this country. As a visitor, Madam Touray was not required to work, but she was said to have been engaged in hair braiding work while in Raleigh North Carolina. She was banned from entering the United States for the next ten years. Deportee Mami Touray had two kids American Kids.

At the time of writing this story, the Central Weather Forecast Bureau was yet to say whether the light showers that were experienced in some parts of the country yesterday herald the beginning of the seasonal rains in The Gambia but fears have started mounting in several quarters in relation to the deplorable road condition in the country.

Light rains and dark clouds were the characteristics of yesterday's weather and some bad roads have already began wearing their rainy season images. This has put the government of The Gambia under a flood of criticism for neglecting this important component of infrastructural development. The Yaya Jammeh administration have been accused of lavish public spending at the expense of important national concerns. Meanwhile, travelling from one part of The Gambia is a nightmare as the roads lie in total neglect and decay. This state of affairs impacts negatively on the commuter community as they have to spend unneccessary longer hours or more money to cover a journey.
