Breaking News:APRC Plans to Expel MP Sainey Jaiteh!! By Our Banjul Bureau Chief, Landing Badjie.
Paid for and Commissioned by the Freedom
Newspaper.
Reports reaching this paper have intimated that there are moves in the inner circle of the APRC to prepare the ground for the expulsion of Hon. Sainey Jaiteh from the party. The member for Serekunda Central ruffled the upper echelons of the APRC when he boldly told the National Assembly on Friday that the Jammeh Foundation for Peace Hospital is dysfunctional and not responsive to the health care needs of the people. He described the situation of the hospital as pathetic in that the health facility could not even provide a simple drug like paracetamol to patients. This followed by a story ran by the Freedom Newspaper.
But Hon. Jaiteh's assertion did not go down well with his party's henchmen. They saw his move as an attempt to wash the party's dirty linen in public. It, therefore, came as no surprise to many when Gambia's Vice President, Isatou Njie-Saidy, called the director general of the country's radio and television services to dispatch a TV and radio crew to expose what she saw as Jaiteh's lies against the establishment. The TV and radio were on Tuesday at the JFP hospital and took footages of the hospital's pharmacy.
But as if this was not enough, under-hand tactics are reported to be underway to sack Mr. Jaiteh from the party. Sources close to this paper revealed that Jaiteh could be dismissed from the party at any time soon but the party is said to be confronted with the problem of an imminent
by-election.
" If Hon. Jaiteh is expelled from the APRC, he would automatically lose his seat which means the electorate of Serekunda Central have to go for a by-election and APRC's chances of winning it may be very slim if the opposition should form a tactical alliance," a constitutional expert told this paper.
