MC CHAM AND RAMZIA:SOURCE THE GAMBIA JOURNAL NEWSPAPER

Recently, Mr. Mboob’s office was said to have engaged in the issuance of Gambian identity cards to non Gambians mainly from Casamance in a bid to give them voting rights in the coming Presidential elections.

The arrest of Mr. Mboob, could not be confirmed by the local authorities, but sources say the news of his arrest was circulating in the country. Mr. Mboob’s arrest followed the recent arrest of UDP’S MC Cham and Ramzia Diab, a former nominated member of the APRC.

The government is accused in some quarters of cracking down on its opponents, who sources say have no clue in the said so called foiled coup. MC Cham, in particular was said to have turned down an invitation to join the ruling Party, which seems to have provoked the sudden acrimonious relationship between him and the government. The Freedom Newspaper gathered that the government had a list of civilians to be called for questioning in days to come.
