Breaking News:Ghanaian population ready to bundle Jammeh
By Editor-in-chief Omar Bah

The apparent impunity of blood-spilling Dictator Yahya Jammeh of Gambia , is supposedly coming to an end given the wide range of issues coming up with regard to the genocide he committed against 44 Ghanaian nationals two years ago. The issuance of pasona no grata note against the dictator even before he scared off a visit to attend the AU summit was just a prelude to the very many actions the citizens of Ghana will take against a leader in a new millennium who has nothing to leave for posterity but a deluge of a bad image. The Freedom Newspaper which is keenly monitoring events in Ghana joins the people of Ghana in the crusade and hereunder reproduces comments by Ghanaian citizens as the debate on the Jammeh genocide rages on. Please read on.

Justice must prevail

Those people where arrested without a single gun or weapon on their possesion. There case was not taking to court for hearing.

I am very surprised by the low key approach or quite deplomacy by the Ghanian government on this matter. Equally i am not surprised by the actions of Jammeh. This is what happens to a lot of Gambians who disagree with him.
Ghanian government MUST ACT to bring this CRAZY man to justice
Death of Ghanaians in Gambia
Posted By: Gambia man ,   7/8/2007 11:15:15 PM
My Dear Ghanaian brothers and sisters. Please accept the apology of all wellbeing Gambains over this tradegy. THis is a very single and isolated move by our President. Our two countries have been together peacefully from times immemorial and there has been a lot of respect and love between us. I firmly agree that President Kuffour and the AU heads should leave no stone unturned in getting justice done the sooner the better to close this awful chapter. We are brothers before the arrival of our demon yahya and both Kuffour and Yahya owe an explaination to these two countries as to what happened and why? The longer this case is left unresolved the more uncomfortable some of us feel, as our conscience just cant stand it. I pray for an urgent legal recation over this matter to get our two countries back together in Peace
ignorant leader

WELL DONE NANA OYE LITHUR
Posted By: Kafodidi ,   7/6/2007 11:25:33 AM
Has it not been the effort of Nana Oye Lithur and that of Mr. Mahama MP Bole, this matter will die out. Nana Akuffo Addo has no time for this. He is interested in using state funds to campaign for his Presidential Ambition. Greedy and Shamefull NPP!!!

Invading Gambia

Joseph, you are an idiot! Go take a look at the history of The Gambia and maybe you will have a better idea of bravery. You are an ass.

Enough Diplomacy
Posted By: Minta ,   7/6/2007 10:53:04 AM
To the people who are saying "Support the govt" and let "Justice take its course" blah blah blah, how would you feel if your relative was slain 2 solid years ago and you still dont know why/how it happened or who did it? This attitude of "waiting" must end. We wont move ahead if we dont demand action from our leaders. 2 years is long enough. Something needs to be done now for the sake of the living family members who deserve explanations and maybe even apologies. The fact that America is richer doesnt mean the American life is more valuable. The fact that Ghanaians wont report to the embassy shoulld not stop the embassy from getting answers for the death of any Ghanaian abroad. This is the kind of attitude that does not make our leaders sit up and do what is right. If you dont put heat on them, they wont bother to look for answers. And we all know this. Diplomacy, diplomacy hasnt worked for Ghana. Lets impose sanctions or something on this guy. Then he will take us seriuos.

Pres. Kuffour must demand anwers or strain relation
Posted By: Charles NJ ,   7/6/2007 10:50:11 AM

It is about time our President Kuffour demands anwers and make this self appointed leader aware that his refusal to co-operate would lead us with no option but to strain relation.

africa can't unit with this stupidity

this is the the reason why ghanaians travel outside and take on another citizenship because of the careless attitude of our govt.

ACTION MUST TAKEN NOW
Posted By: JOSEPH ,   7/6/2007 9:32:51 AM
We must be ready to invade the Gambia, so JAMMEH can be put to trial. That is the best solution.

Unbelievable...!!
Posted By: Yao ,   7/6/2007 9:02:55 AM
This is absolute nonsense. Isnt the chairman of ECOWAS Ghanaian? Isnt the AU Chairman Ghanaian? Why arent they imposing sanctions on this Jammeh man? Why are we going to ASK for his co-operation? He does not want to cooperate, so what are we going to do about it? Common people, enough of this apathy !!! I didnt even know its been 2 years. Why wait this long? Every life is important. And I have a big problem with the citizens who did not put pressure on the leaders all this while to get answers cos we all know that the leaders do not care unless it affects their per diem. So at the end of the day, we the citizens need to speak up in order to get things done.

Move wisely
Posted By: Ogboo ,   7/6/2007 8:46:22 AM
I have read all the comments posted and I dont see any advice given to the government to follow. Should he send the Gambia government to the International court of justice? I supposed, however, in diplomatic circles the path that you take must be done circumspectively, and I think that is the reason why there is such a delay. We should also remember that there might be some Ghanaians who have established themselves in Gambia, and their lives might be in danger if care is taken. Please dont compare America to Ghana in this wise. America is the richest country in this world and they can use their resources to do everything. You would be surprised if a Ghanaian travels outside Ghana, he or she is supposed to register with the Ghana embassy in that country but, 95% fails to do that. America government knows all americans in Ghana and hence can quickly come the aid of persons suspected to be in danger. Situations like that in Gambia is done tactfully and I know Ghanaians are not stupid and the government is sure to deal with this matter wisely and justice would be done. We should all support the government in this effort and stop the distructive critism we are offering.

Read Luke15 : 4-6
Posted By: Selorm ,   7/6/2007 8:49:03 AM
" 3Then Jesus told them this parable: 4"Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Does he not leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it? 5And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders 6and goes home. Then he calls his friends and neighbors together and says, 'Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep."

Even if it's only one (1) Ghanaian his/her live is important.

GAMBIA KILLINGS
Posted By: ANGRY DIASPORAN..... ,   7/6/2007 8:06:48 AM
IT IS ABOUT TIME WE BRING THIS IDIOT TO JUSTICE JUST LIKE CHARLES TAYLOR. OUR GOVERNMENT AND PEOPLE OF GHANA SHOULD BEGIN TO INITIATE THIS, ESPECIALLY THE FAMILIES OF THE DECEASED. WE SHULD BEGIN TO RAISE MONEY FOR THEIR ATTORNEYS TO BRING THIS STUPIDITY TO A SWIFT END. ECOWAS AND ECOMOG SHOULD BE ON STAND BY AND EFECTIVE ACTION SHOULD BE TAKEN AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. THIS IS NOT A POLITICAL MATTER, OUR BROTHERS WERE KILLED SIMILARLY IN COTE D'IVOIRE AND THE GHANAIAN GOVERNMENT DID NOTHING. ENOUGH OF THIS APATHY FROM GHANAIAN AUTHORITIES.

What Are You Talking About.
Posted By: martin,USA ,   7/6/2007 7:41:34 AM
Where were all these information until the public outcry? Ghanaians, let's take life serious. It is when we start sending signals to the world that a ghanaian life is precious to his country that everybody would start respecting us as a nation. For me figures are not so important now. Unwarranted massacre had taken place and those who meted out such uncilvilised massacre MUST face the full definition of the law. No kidding.

sad

THE UNCONCERNED COUNTRY (GOVERNMENT)
Posted By: TONY, MADINA ,   7/6/2007 7:24:39 AM
Can anyone imagine if the murdered were Americans. Jammeh would have been under intense pressure to expose the killers. But guess what? It just feels as if it is a mistake to be a Ghanaian.

It has taken our government two years to write demanding and threatening about straining relations. I do not think the people of Gambia should faulted if they see Ghanaians an animals because our own governmnet does not value its human capital.

God help Us

Relationship should have been long strained!
Posted By: Kwasi ,   7/6/2007 6:57:12 AM
How long ago did this happen? We are now treathening strained relationship? Pardon my language, but sometimes I think when it comes to foreing policy, we are generous to the point of stupidity!
"Due" to the relatives of the departed

Our deepest condolences to the bereaved. We should ensure that justice is served to honor our beloved countrymen.

WHAT DOES JAMMEH MEAN
Posted By: COCO-DC ,   7/6/2007 6:52:08 AM
I just don't get this criminal refusing to cooperate with the Ghanaian officials. If it had been the Gambians will he be sitting on his ass now? If he's not going to cooperate then all Gambians should be sent back to their Lions Den period

Gambia

A country like this with a president like this is a threat to world peace. We will use all our resources to prove to this president who is leaving in that cave that Ghanaians and the world will not support this barbaric behavior and we will at all cost and all necessarily means to bring him to book.
