WESTERN DIVISION APRC CHAIRMAN THREATEN WITH COURT ACTION
                         As Wife Claims 'Domestic Violence'.

                                BY Wise Man in Banjul

Dembo Keleng Bojang, Chairman of APRC Western Division has been threatened with court action as his wife Binta Mira Sanneh insisted that she must go to court to make a stop against ‘unjustifiable domestic violence’. The matter has since been reportedly to the Brikama Police Station and the APRC Chairman was henceforth informed about his wife’s grievances. So far he has not been formally arrested or charged.

Mr. X Sanneh a relative to the Chairman’s wife told Freedom Newspaper that the family is in consultation about what to do next, but warned that if action is not taken promptly they will end up in court. He alleged that the Mr. Bojang had attacked his wife both in the market and during a naming ceremony and said that such behaviour must stop.

Chairman Dembo Keleng Bojang, had faced similar allegations not once in connection with "domestic violence’’ and was once cautioned at the Brikama Police Station after reportedly assaulting his wife. The Chairman had claimed that his wife has been unfaithful to him and he has no other option but to confront her.
Bojang also reportedly told Police in a statement that his wife was "cheating on him" and as such deserve a ‘beating’. His friends also supported him and claimed that he has been patience for long and should teach her a lesson.
Binta, a petty trader at the Brikama Market, where she sells palm oil is devastated about the allegation make by Mr. Bojang and demanded that he leave her alone or risk standing before a court of law.

An eyewitness to the recent fight between the angry couple said: ‘This is a disgrace. To the surprise of many here, Mr.Bojang walked into the market and forcefully took the Palm oil she was selling and poured it on the face of Binta Mari Sanneh. She sustained injuries’.

However in his defence, Bojang told the Police that he had credible evidence that his wife was sleeping with another man even though she was legally married to him. During the incident, the Brikama Police Station later became a scene for curious onlookers as many stormed the premises of the police station gossiping and asking questions about the case against Mr. Bojang.
The APRC politician from Brikama Mansarinsu has been encountering difficulties with his first wife since he married a second one called Fatou Hydara. The relationship between the couple had soured over the years.

Binta complained that she had been neglected so long and since demanded a divorce. Her complain has been brought before the Cadi’s Court for an annulment of the marriage but the politician had refused to accept her demands. The Cadi had asked him to allow Binta respite but Mr. Bojang was displeased with the court's ruling and insists that the said marriage was still valid.

A source close to the case said: ‘due to his political influence in the town, previous cases against him has been brushed under the carpet by the Police and the latest one is still yet to be handle seriously by the Brikama Police’. However people close to Mr. Bojang had maintained that he has a good defence and is prepared to tender them for his side of the story.
