Mr. Diab had a shop just around the Central Bank of The Gambia and his arrest is being seen as a witch hunt directed against the Lebanese community in The Gambia, by President Jammeh. Mr.Diab, was arrested alongside with other civilians in the tiny West African country after been linked to the alleged abortive coup.

RAMZIA DIAB
Raif Diab, is a prominent businessman. He is said to be a relative of the former APRC nominated MP Ramzia Diab, who is also held by The Gambian authorities in connection with Tuesday’s alleged foiled coup.
The Lebanese community had been a strong supporter of President Jammeh’s government. This was possible thanks to the jailed Jarra MP Baba K Jobe. Now that Baba is no longer in government sources say, their loyalty is being doubted by the present administration. It is gathered that Ramzia Diab was still loyal to Baba Jobe and was spotted at the court house when Jobe was last brought their to face prosecution.
Well placed sources in the heart of the Jammeh administration hinted that the Head of State is currently gripped by anxiety and worry, as most of his close confidants are becoming pissed off with his forced rule style.
