Chowlee Chowlee With Kochibarma-Ambassador Jagne to attend Raleigh Gamu- Demonstrators warm up...
Gambia’s Ambassador to the United States of America Dodou Bammy Jagne, has been billed to attend the Raleigh, NC annual Muslim gathering known as “Gamu”, the Freedom Newspaper can authoritatively reveal. The Ambassador who is representing a murderous government in the United States has been busy trying to gather political  support base for the Ruling APRC,  which is increasingly becoming unpopular in the Western world. Gambians both at home and abroad are displeased with the current dictatorship. As a result of the growing nationwide discontent, Jammeh and his officials are finding it hard to visit certain Western countries. Popular showdown actions usually disrupts their visits. Jagne’s pending Raleigh visit might be disrupted by demonstrators who are poised to take the disgraced Ambassador to task on the atrocities committed by the Jammeh government.

It appeared that Ambassador Jagne is in the good books of these Gambians who invited him to attend such an important gathering. It’s not clear what these people intend to achieve by inviting Jagne to Raleigh. What is evident though is that the organization’s credibility has been put to question by critics. The Muslim organization which is expected to be apolitical-free of politics,  for the first time in living memory is inviting Ambassador Jagne to be a guest of honor to  the Raleigh GAMU scheduled for August 28, 2007. The said organization had across the board membership. Opposition, government supporters, conservatives and independent minded Gambians are part of this organization.

A highly placed source close to the Organizing  Committee told the Freedom Newspaper that Ambassador Jange was yet to make up his mind on the said invitation extended to him. But sources said Jagne was most likely to honour the invitation,  as Raleigh NC has been their main target area for political activities. Raleigh has been perceived as an opposition zone by the authorities in Banjul, with two independent online  Newspapers rattling Jammeh’s cage on a daily basis.

The Main opposition United Democratic Party UDP, also had a strong support  base in NC. Its supporters who are members of the said Muslim Organization might be displeased by news of Jagne invitation to grace the said organization. Over the years, the UDP and their supporters suffered untold terror from the hands of the murderous Jammeh administration.

Ambassador Jagne might be greeted with rude shock, as their are  groups at this hour contemplating organizing protest action should he go ahead to attend the Raleigh GAMU. These protesters want the Ambassador to explain the government’s role on the murder of journalist Deyda Hydara. They also want to know the people behind the Independent Newspaper arson attack, the illegal trial of Journalist Fatou Jaw Manneh, the murder of Ousman Koro Ceesay, the gruesome murder of Gambian students, the list goes on and on….This writer is prepared to spearhead such protest since his head is wanted by the blood thirsty dictator.

We are disturbed by the news of Jagne invitation to Raleigh. Gambians can be funny and interesting you know… Let leave politics for the politicians. We can bet that Ambassador Jange will never honour an invitation extended to him by the UDP supporters in Raleigh. He wants his job. He knows what would visit him later…. There are UDP supporters who contributed their hard earned money in the said GAMU. If Ambassador Jagne can be invited, why not Ousainou Darboe, Hamat Bah, Waa Juawara and Halifa? Why not invite Ousainou Mbenga of NDAM?? We are just curious…

The Ambassador would also be shocked to learn that some of these protestors would be coming from other states. This paper was briefed ahead of time about his pending visit. Imam Cherno Kah of Banjul is expected to attend the GAMU
