Acknowlegding a good job and commendations-Editor Mbai and Michael Scales
Dear Editor Mbai,
I feel honoured because of the delightful words I saw from our good friend in England, Michael Scales. These were words used to inspire and encourage. I fully agree with Michael on what he wrote regarding Jadama and Jammeh's writings. I have never met both men, however,I would not hesitate to say they are talented products of Gambian society.
Michael on the other hand is a great mind that sees beyond established social boundaries.
He reminds me of my high principal, Mr Graham Heddle who was from the UK himself. Mr Heddle used to say this to us as youngsters at Armitage High School..."Idleness is the holiday of fools".
Well over the years we learned to understand that indeed idleness is the holiday of fools,so we parted with idleness. This is why we used lantern lamps, logs and candles in the rural zone of The Gambia, to study English language. Not as a second language but I would say 3rd or 4th language. Isn't is amazing to realise that we freed ourselves from the holiday of fools after all these years? Sure it is. On that note my special appreciations are being sent to former principal Heddle(dead or alive) via Michael Scales a good friend of The Gambia. Both men did something for the country we call home.
A Special Tribute to Uncle or Dr Suleymane Nyang.
Pa Nderry along this same vein please allow me commend you for having conducted an Interview with one of Africa's greatest sons and minds, in the name of Dr Suleymane Nyang. Today I kept on reading and re-reading his wise words before my computer whiles at work. I for one can attest to Dr Nyang's values. Humility is the man's weapon. This man came all the way to pay me respects in my office as former Ambassador in Washington DC. He also gave me candid guidelines that I am still using. Dr Nyang is one of those rare brains one can see in this world of today. He also received me at his office, where he continued to give me more candid guidelines with respect and firmness. I was so thrilled when I saw him share his rich thoughts with us on this paper. This shows how much dedication can take us.
Pa you did a good job worthy of commendation. Interviewing people like Dr Nyang means a lot for this paper and for the people of The Gambia. He is a good man of God. That much I know.
As the wolof saying goes:"Yagga baayiwut darra". I really respect this piece of work.
May Allah bless Dr Nyang for accepting to share his rich thoughts with us!
Essa.
