IN RESPONSE TO MR IMPERCEPTIBLE LAMIN DRAMMEH IN SWEDEN
IN RESPONSE TO MR IMPERCEPTIBLE LAMIN DRAMMEH IN SWEDEN
By JADAMA SADIBU (Stockholm Sweden)

As one famous Swedish Journalist Jan Gillou put it “there is absolutely no one who cannot be talk about, so as a former scholar of the renowned London School of Professional Journalism, I Mr. Jadama Sadibu resident in Stockholm Sweden, hereby humbly take your recent criticisms regarding my online postings with the Freedom newspaper. Via the same popular online news medium I have the utmost desire to give you every benefit of doubt by setting the records straight.

Please read on:

This article is in response to the one written by Mr. Lamin Drammeh and what I call his misinformed attempts to tarnish the image of a well performing individual of my caliber based on nothing else but inapplicable biblical quotations and unfounded accusations. Many more writers in the future I suggest should base their articles on facts and not gut reactions especially in a democracy as young as the Gambia. It is even more disheartening to hear such vile accusations come out of the mouth of a so-called Lamin Drammeh who clam to be residing in Sweden. (If he ever exists in this country at all.)

First, I think its time that Gambians like Mr. Drammeh stood up for themselve rather than wait for God to do everything. That attitude of "complete dependence" on God is definitely backward and no different to colonialism. Don't get me wrong, you have the right to be religious but in situations like yours where you are blinded by Europe to extent that you judge everything in your country as satanic and sit down waiting for miracles to be performed is definitely detrimental to the development of a country like the Gambia.  Yes indeed Lamin I would like to see people criticize the government based on statistical evidence rather than on hearsay biases. Young people like your type living in the most sophisticated part of the World should rely on their intellect and be real Gambians and strive to maintain peace rather than instigate pandemonium.

Your article says nothing but that it is one of a cynical and ignorant person. All the arguments are based on quotations and hear say that are not even applicable.

We are so reliant on Rumors that we cannot even judge the performance of a government without asserting to rumor. What good is a God fearing citizen to the country as a whole if his policies do not improve the welfare of the people? His political disposition should be utterly up to him and should be by no means a factor in assessing his performance. Making such claims I believe is a means to make up for his simplistic assessment of an important issue. Yes Mr. Lamin Drammeh things go wrong in my country and the fact that someone does not succeed in achieving an end doesn't make him evil or dishonest.

What I find fundamentally wrong with your article is your imposition of vengeance and personal attack on me. I am democratic and therefore have the right to my own Online Journalistic preferences. You should be more sensible and consider other peoples affiliations when you make such sweeping and baseless statements in your article keeping in mind the numerous friendly, tribal and intermarriage connections within the Gambian community. Such people of your type are hypocrites to their nation and have no clue to what it is to be become a good citizen. Where were you, when I Jadama Sadibou forcefully through the media made the Swedish police withdrew their defamatory allegations against the indigenous Gambian citizens that 90% of us here in Sweden are engaged in illegal drug related matters? Where were you Mr. Lamin when I Jadama Sadibou in the year 2000 launched an immigrant magazine here in Sweden covering the activities of foreigners in Scandinavia exposing their potentials in the area of sports, education, and culture and business successes? Where were you Mr. When I decided to return to the Gambia where I embarked on a multi-million dalasi project in a manner of bar restaurant and a motel complex (The new Atlantic city) in Bakau, thereby creating employment opportunities for Gambians from all walks of life? Where were you in 1998 to 2001 when my feature articles dominated the Daily Observer’s popular column THE VIEW POINT?

Mr. Lamin, my contribution to the daily observer news paper in that period could not be underestimated by anyone less one is hell-bent on character assassinations such as yours. Do you remember my article on Deyda’s murder? Do you remember my article on the arson attack on Albert market? Do you remember my article on sexual behaviors in a changing Gambia?

So Mr. Lamin what is your problem if I have to associate myself with people of my choice? In fact I can honestly put it to you that you are just one of the Johnny just comes when it comes to national issues coupled that up with international relationships. I can boast of my friends as humble, intellect and ambitious who are striving ruthlessly for a better Gambia under a better administration. As far as am concern, there is no Lamin Drammeh in Botkyrka. Get out of your filthy closet of and dare say it as it is. My world is incomparable to yours. You have illusions and I have the reality. Get your acts together and come up with something development oriented rather smear and sinister campaign to undermine my well deserved academic achievement and advancement in social relations. My records are clean and clear for I have nothing to hide or lie about. Gambia is a democracy and there is a lot at faults there. Talk about the pressing issues for national development rather than my personal relationship with women. In my article I used both my personal experience and my many years of witnessing such tragic events that led to the numerous divorces and their causes. Learn from it rather than condemn me for being what you have no evidence to back your claims with. I will not, have not and would not hide under any pen name in fear of my stance, for I believe in everything I write and would suggest you to do the same. My desire to write is an inspiration of my dearest loving father who during his lifetime produced, compiled and wrote several books on Islam, preaching the moral values of the subject as a way of life and perfect peace.

How could you accuse me of being "evil?  As ignorant and ill-informed immigrant in Sweden, you still claimed to be civilized and educated. Such comments only serve to heighten tensions of hatred and even worse cause conflicts. With things not going too well, a well-meaning Gambian should give useful advice and not attempt to break the peace that we have all struggled to achieve. If you have no ideas then you should keep your mouths shut. Yes the Gambian type Journalism is both a success and a failure but nevertheless a good idea. Shouldn't you be grateful that I have the courage to openly try to stop gutter Journalism online rather than resort to obscure means to please my colleagues? You should also realize that I am virtually nothing more than a simple media practitioner with my humble advisers. Such uninformed utterances by you and your type can be considered as treason and could be punished.
