SANKANU; A DELUDED MIND- David Sambou says Sankanu might as well be suffering from unsound mind
David Sambou, UK

I was flabbergasted by one of the most obscene piece written in defence of anybody.Mr Sankanu claims to be defending the honesty and integrity of Fatoumatta Jahumpa-Ceesay instead, he goes further to profess a profound sexual fantasy he has for this lady. Not only is his confession disgusting, but sinful. Lusting after a lady who is not only old enough to be her mother, but married as well makes him an adulterer and he can ask any erudite Islamic scholar about the Quran's position on this. So he believes Fatoumata Jahumpa-Ceesay's husband will be proud of him for saying how much he loves his wife?. There is no greater delusion than this.

Besides this illicit obsession with FJC, he goes on to say that when she was in charge there wasn't an international PR disaster. I don't understand exactly what he means by this but if it means that during her days in the state house we had a better relations with the international community then I would like him to tell us where was FJC when the Government declared a British diplomat persona non grata. May be she was at home on the phone telling the British ambassador how sorry the government was for throwing out the diplomat.

Sankanu wants to portray FJC as a face of reconciliation by citing an example when she organised a football match between Gambians and Senegalese diplomats, we can play as many football matches as we can with the Senegalese diplomatic corps but unless she among other things addresses some of the issues that are of concern to our sister country, the mounting suspicions will not go away. He must have a short memory but many can remember the days when we had a Senegalese rebel spokesman in person of Alexandra Gibba who used  to talk freely in the Gambian media and also used to expressed profound hatred for the Senegalese government and there has never been a single
condemnation of his tirades, not a single word fromSankanu's 'sugar mummy' as he calls her

Sankanu wants to show FJC's positive attitude towardsthe media saying she was the one to bring into termstwo journalists who weren't in talking terms . Am not disputing the possibility of that, but is that enoughto say that this woman has no resentment against journalist? Only in the mines of those with mentalmyopia. To convince us further Sankanu should tell ushow FJC voted in the house of parliament when the draconian anti-private media law was put before thehouse. Did she publicly condemn the bill for severely handicapping the works of journalists?.

What Sankanushould understand is that sensible people are notbeing critical of FJC for being FJC but what she hascome to represent in the national arena. Her stance onpolitical issues that affect us collectively as anation all of which have either social or economicconsequencies. That is why politician are closelywatch, applauded where need be and critised wherenecessary. I guess he wouldn't be able to accept thatin his confused and incoherent mine. It's clear that everyone can see through Sankanu's hypocrisy and lack of independent mental convictionswhen he proclaimed that if his family decided for himto work in the government, he would.

That shouldn't bea surprise because it is B. Sankanu one of the biggestflip floppers like his so called sugar mummy FJC who
was nothing but a poodle of Jawara and his wivesduring his hay days. This was the boy locked up only to come out to become an APRC campaigner. Do notpretend to be non-partisan in your argument MrSankanu, memories of you in 1996 amidst APRC campaignentourage grinning wildly in a pajero whiles gesturing the victory sign with your hands as you and your boss
Jammeh make your triumphant entry in Serekunda arestill afresh in my mine. Though I was young and still in high school I could by then tell what kind of person you are.

A hypocrite and an opportunist are what you are and what you will always be. I'm not here to attack his intellect for he hasn't got any and that is because there is a fine line between being schooled and being educated and the latter is achieved through experience and learning from them, Sankanu is stuck in the former During his papal visit in 1992 at St Augustine's High School, the late Pope John Paul made these statement and I quote 'study hard and educate yourselves, do not let your schoolwork to interfere with your education'.

Journalism comes with integrity; a good journalist gives a fare and balanced view on issues, not being a propagandist, image maker or a mouthpiece for a point of view. Unfortunately all the above are true of Mr Sankanu and the only befitting description of him is a charlatan with a piece of paper and a pen What the Gambia needs in these times of economic hardships is not the Sankanus to be defending public figures who have plunged us into this deluge of economic melt down. I don't know how long it will take but this madness will finally come to an end, it might be many more years or shorter than we expect but when it does many will hang down their faces in shame. Until that day let the struggle of bringing back political sanity live on.
