Well placed sources say Sonko was incriminated by some of the coup suspects who mentioned his name on their testimonies.
JAMMEH CRACKING DOWN
SECURITY CHIEFS!!!
Sonko told a local paper in The Gambia that he was never arrested and denied knowledge about the said foiled coup. But the Freedom Newspaper today was informed that Sonko was lined up to be arrested in view of the revelations made by the alleged coupists.
Sonko was promoted to the rank of IGP after he leaked an alleged coup attempt spearheaded by former state guard commander Lieutenant Sanneh, who was convicted by a military court marshal on treason charges.
Sources hinted that Sonko was lined up for questioning and it was not clear when the investigators would knock at his door. It is gathered that both Captain Bunja Darboe and Tamir Jasseh mentioned him in their statements taken by the NIA. Sonko however, remained adamant saying that he had no hands on the said alleged coup.
Police sources say the IGP was heard saying that the alleged coupists wanted to set him up and he deemed it necessary to clarify this serious state of affairs.
