Breaking News:Prison boss trial takes twist! Colleagues pour testimonies in David Colley’s case

Two prosecution witnesses this morning gave testimonies in the ongoing trial of the former Director General of prisons at Banjul Magistrate Court before Magistrate B.Y. Camara.In the alleged generator theft case involving David Colley, the former Director General of Prisons some of his colleagues have testified.
 
In his testimony Sergeant Malang Manneh , prison officer attached to Jeshwang Juvenile Wing as a gate lodge, told the court that on the 25th June 2007, while on duty a vehicle drove in with two officers, Haruna Jobe and Famara Sanneh saying that they were sent by the accused to come and collect a generator.
He further told the court that he then ordered Jainaba Touray, his junior to book their entry and the generator was later handed over to them.
 
Also testifying, detective Amadou Kujabi attached to Police Head Quarters told the court that some time on the 25th June 2007 he was on duty when he was ordered to join one officer, Ceesay to investigate the alleged stolen generator which involved David Colley the ex-prison boss. He added that upon their arrival at mile 2 central prison, they meet he, David Colley and asked him about the alleged stolen generator which was donated to them by the Social Development Fund (SDF)
He said David Colley admitted borrowing the Generator from his deputy for the purpose of his naming ceremony at his New Yundum resident. He pointed out that David Colley further admitted that the said generator was with him, but it’s under repair at one workshop in Ebo Town. He said that they later went together to Ebo town with David Colley to collect the said generator. He said on their way back they passed through Mile 2 Central Prison and asked the deputy, Rose to look at the generator.
He said the deputy later identified the generator and said it was not the one David Colley collected from her. She made a statement and the generator was later transported to the Police Headquarters in Banjul.
