According to sources close to some patients at the Health Centre, they have not been getting electricity due to a fire outbreak at the male ward last week. The said fire destroyed the electrical mechanism thus bringing light supply to a halt. The staff quarters is getting light uninterrupted unlike the wards.

According Juldeh Baldeh an old patient, they are given injection by the light of kerosene lamps close to their eyes. Sources say they are even afraid to report to their superiors for fear of being sacked.

Patients have complained that drugs are not enough for the patients even when drugs are abundant in the RVTH for all.

People close to the hospital have said that the drugs were found in the nurses rooms who sell them to people. The nurses are grumbling also that their new quarters have not been occupied by anyone while the nurses are renting in Basse Town itself. They are wondering why so.

The Regional Health Director denied all the above statements. He said, "It is not true."  It would be recalled that a generator was donated to the Basse Health Centre but was later taken away by the Commissioner of Basse. Yet no one asked him about anything. Now that the sick people are in darkness it is left to be seen what Commissioner Omar Khan would do about the generator. It could be David Colley ex Prison boss is standing trial for a said generator at the Banjul Magistrates' court.

The Health Centre at Basse is marred by poor administration. The labour ward is dirty and the administration is silent.
