Breaking News:Ferry worker scare drivers
By Correspondent Famara Jammeh, Banjul.

Some workers at the ferry crossings between Banjul and Barra and George Town are making life uneasy for drivers crossing those areas every day for their selfish gains. Passengers with vehicles are crying in the hands of those working at the ferry terminals as terminal workers are bent on demanding so much money before they cross the ferry in time leaving behind some others with their vehicles that were there in time.

The securities have been blamed for taking bribes since they are incharge of controlling security. After buying ticket, the passengers who have money go round to bribe the security to let their vehicles pass and enter the ferry even when they are last.

A passenger, Sarjo Bah  attacked some securities last week accusing them of bribery and corruption. Muhamed Tunkara from Gambesera in a vehicle numbered Bjl 3447C bribed and his their vehicle was given priority to cross easily. It was later proved that Muhamed was a passenger and was sent to bribe by the driver, leaving behind over fifteen vehicles in the queue.

When this reporter asked the security who refused to show hisname he said the people are diplomats so they were given priority to go first. The passengers were furious and a teacher among them said, "How can a BJL vehicle number plate be a diplomatic vehicle? We are not sleeping."

This trend has given a lot of frustrations to ferry users as they are often bullied due to their financial status.
