KMC Mayor in 4Million theft case
The acting KMC Mayor who replaced the sacked Francis Gomes is in hot waters as he keeps appearing in court amids reports of ill health to answer charges of a missing money attributed to him.
Mayor Momar Njie has lately been troubled by the case against him. He appeared on the 21st of August and was later brought to answer charges filed against him for some 4 Million Dalasis said to have been stolen by him.
Mayor Njie denied the charges against him and the case has been rescheduled for hearing on 24th September 2007. His case had earlier on been heard in the Chambers and nothing was said from their meeting.
It could be recalled that Mayor Njie serves as the Scouts Commissioner and was also associated with missing funds there. It is not clear whether it is connected to the Scouts' money or money else where. He has not enjoyed his term in office since he took the reigns from Francis Gomez and since Lai Conteh was sacked the seat has been quite unstable for its occupants.
