Mam Ceesay and Malick Jones Fired With Immediate Effect- Lamarana Jallow discloses!
Dear Editors,

Please cease to communicate with me on my old email address. I have discarded the said email for security reasons. Throughout, the weekend we have been busy investigating the Observer and GRTS story on JT Kujabi's replacement. I was part of the investigating team who questioned Malick Jones, Mam Sait Ceesay, Saja Taal and others. The President is taking such a move to tame some of us releasing classified state files to the Freedom Newspaper. He is increasingly worried about some of the stories filed by Justice Sam, Karafa Badjie, Bulfaaleh, Famara Jammeh and my humble self. He said there is no way that these people can report such factual stories without having direct access to the State House. Indeed, he is right. We work here and can access any file that we deem necessary. The whole story behind the arrest of these people centered on the Freedom Newspaper recent stories on the Central Bank, the killers of Deyda Hydara, Jammeh's cancelled Taiwan trip, the division in the army, just to name a few. As a seasoned intelligence officer, I can tell you that these people are being used as scapegoats. We just laughed when instructions came from HE to arrest these named journalists. Even if he wants to use the arrest of these individuals as "counter intelligence" strategy this is not the way. We know for a fact that HE is not happy about the Freedom's piece filed by one of your reporters about the cancellation of his proposed Taiwan trip. HE was devastated when he read the story online. He is still wondering who must have relayed the news to your reporter. "Who is this Freedom reporter? Most of the stories he filed are sensitive. Who is feeding him with such information? I give you guys assignment to trace this insider compromising state secrets. How can he know that I cancelled my trip when the Vice President has not even taken off the ground? Look, he is saying that a Permanent Secretary informed him about the trip cancellation." HE told us during a meeting at Kanilai.
While we were busy gathering bit and pieces about the source of the said report, the Observer came with a story that JT Kujabi has been replaced. I was just retreating from a morning briefing when my orderly handed the copy of the Observer Publication to me. Honestly speaking, I have not seen any security threat on the said publication. There was no mention of a planned coup, a foiled coup, insurgency, arms movement or classified security files being declassified. The Observer or GRTS reporting about the replacement of JT Kujabi was a normal news as far as our men are concerned. We spent hours trying to figure out the security threat information the President talked about. My Deputy, later showed up in my office and said "Sir, I think this is a counter intelligence move to defuse the talk in town that HE is afraid to travel. There is no security threat in that report. HE is doing this for a purpose. We have no choice but to go get them. He is saying that he want to see these people charged." This could be another move to distract people from the poor economy.
Initially, I had in my mind to release Jones and Ceesay but our DG said he needs to consult with HE first before freeing these people. Before close of business, we received a phone call that the case file should be transferred for legal advise. The detainees were later transferred to another detention center. I nearly shed tears when I saw these innocent souls being treated like common criminals.
Ceesay was compromised by Pa Ousman Darboe. Darboe revealed a lot about Mam Sait. Mr. Darboe claimed that Mam Sait pass the news tip-off to him about JT Kujabi's replacement. I personally interviewed Mr.Darboe. He even tried to implicate Saja Taal in his statement. If Saja Taal is reading me, please be informed that the agency is watching you closely. Your reporter had said some stuffs about you and watch out. I don't want to go into details-because I cared about my own personal security.
Mr.Darboe ought to have been detained but due to the information he provided to our men, HE was impressed by his cooperation to name his source. Mam Sait and Malick Jones have refused to reveal their source(s). The journalists said their report was based on rumors. HE is not buying that. HE wants these people to reveal their source or pay the price.
For your information, Jones and Ceesay had been fired. They are currently standing trial on false news charges. Both the Director of TV and the Observer MD were advised to terminate the services of the two. The President wants to set an example so that some of us supplying official information to Freedom will quit what we are doing.
This case could be worsen by the above mentioned reasons advanced earlier regarding the Freedom Newspaper's capabilities of tapping such sensitive state secrets. I report to work each morning expecting to be arrested or sacked. I provide such stories to the Freedom Newspaper because this is the only medium which I can use to reach the President. He reads this paper daily. My stories are geared for different reasons. One, I want HE to know that some of us following him are not loyal to the system and are serving just to earn a living. Two, we want to document some of crimes committed by HE for posterity so that when he is out, lawyers can use our postings to prosecute him. HE took a wise move for not attending the Taipei Summit. The Permanent Secretary who spoke to your reporter was right. He was not going to land in this country if he had attended the meeting. I'm not interested to know who the said perm Sec is, but his information was factual. Let Mam Sait and Malick Jones make no mistake to compromise their source(s). They should refrain from naming their source(s) because if that happened, no one will trust them again. Pa Ousman was too cheap to compromise his editor. We know his fears, but this is not the way to fight your case.
The Independent Editor Alagi Yoro Jallow was invited for questioning by our men when Darboe claimed that some of the content of the piece on Alpha Khan marrying the Vice President Isatou Njie Saidy was not his own writing. He said the editors must have conducted their own research to beef up the story. Salimina and I were detailed to assign our men to invite Jallow for questioning. Jallow was never intimidated by our men. He maintains that the story was credible. They were later released but asked to be reporting to the agency.
One thing I liked about the Freedom Newspaper, its editors are trustable. They standby their sources no matter what. I know the Freedom Editor since he was at the Observer in the late 90's . I used to feed him with official secrets while I was posted at Kanilai.
Who Text who?
The quickest way to share official information in The Gambia is to use the GAMCEL text message or Africell. There was this text message circulating in town regarding the removal of JT Kujabi. Mam Sait Ceesay forwarded the text he received regarding JT'S replacement to Saja Taal. Taal in turn shared the information with Pa Ousman Darboe. Darboe rushed to write a story that JT has been replaced. Both Mam Sait and Saja Taal don't even know where the said text emanates from. There was also this text talking about the overthrow of Jammeh Government soon. We know all what's happening in this country. Our intelligence is very weak. I will be in Kanilai today. I will be back soon. Please refer all future communications to my new email address. Abaraka Bandirabeh. Hakundenhalla Heckawellaye.
