FJC'S Application for a Degree Programme at the University of The Gambia Rejected!
..University authorities say the disgraced Speaker lack the required qualifications to be admitted

Interestingly enough, FJC has been tremendously disappointed by the decision of the Admission board to reject her application.  Rather than accepting the fact that she is simply not academically qualified, FJC has been fuming and spitting fire, exclaiming that the Admission Board is biased.  In her outrage she had denounced the system, claiming that she had sacrificed her entire life for the APRC and yet still she is not treated fairly.  She had slammed the decision of the Board to accept Edward Singateh's  application while rejecting outright her application. Well I do not know exactly what happened in relation to Singateh's application, but some of the civil servants within the state department had told me that Edu was their contemporary at the Sixth Form in Gambia High School. This probably means that Edu, unlike FJC can at least boast of six O’ Level credits, and who knows, probably two A’ Level passes.

  Baati Jollof

In the midst of poverty, there is plenty; on the dry desert an oasis is present; in the sanctuary of the wicked, corrupt and ungodly, there still dwells the RIGHTEOUS.

Country men and country women, it is difficult to come across the “true Gambian” these days.  It is pathetic to state that a very tiny fraction of our brothers and sisters, had allowed themselves to be corrupted, used and misused, so as to be elevate to higher positions within the civil service. These few loud and empty barrels are the frequently seen in society as they spend most of their time trying to win the admiration of our good citizens, with sweet talks, lies and perfunctory black slaps.  These parrots are the ones who Yahya  Jammeh foolishly calls “patriots”.  The true patriots of this country however, continue to “work behind the scene” with utmost honesty and diligence and without fear of intimidation. Such people are rare to see in Banjul these days but they are still here in their great numbers within our midst.

One of our old teachers had once told us that you do not need to thank anybody who is paid to do his work.  However, I think that if people stand vehemently by the truth and remain principled, then they should be commended. The decision by the University of The Gambia (UG) Admission Board to throw out the application of Fatoumatta Jahumpa Ceesay is very Gambian. Our “bragging and loud mouth” Speaker had decided to use her influence to defy all the odds in applying for a Degree Programme at the UG in International Development Studies.  Her application was not backed by any academic qualification, despite the fact that she had repeatedly lied to those young journalists at the Daily Observer that she periodically invites for lunch, that she bags a diploma in Journalism from an American University.   Rather, the application was accompanied by a strongly worded letter (which was probably written for her by Saja Taal) indicating that she is “applying as a matured student”.
Being fully aware that the minimum requirement for this programme is at least 6 (six) O ‘Level credits in one sitting, FJC decided to fool around, knowingly fully well that she had never had the opportunity to take the O’ level exams, as she was rusticated from Gambia High School at Form Three.

But maybe these are the little but significant things that FJC should learn from, in order to make herself humble and respectful. Just recently, this unschooled, unmannered and uncultured misfit had embarrassed  us to the highest order on our return from the Senegalese capital, Dakar.  In what I consider as the most grave act of stupidity that I have seen her commit, FJC deliberately refused to show her boarding pass to the nicely smiling  Air Senegal official, who approached her in the most friendly and dignified manner and demanded for her boarding pass.  She actually had no reason to refuse such a request from a well trained air line official. It was embarrassing for all the Gambians boarding the Aircraft when our Speaker opened her mouth to utter grave nonsense, distasteful trash and absolute garbage. Her only argument was that if it was Macky Sall, former Senegalese Prime Minister and the current President of the Senegalese National Assembly, the official would not have asked him for his boarding pass.  Such an argument alone vindicates the rejection of her application as “a matured student”.  The speaker showcased her lack of education, immaturity, lowness and irresponsibility by bitterly exchange words with an airline official who was rightly doing her job.  FJC needs to know that the business of education is to train mind and character. As you continue to demonstrate your stupidity and incompetence in public by trying to make your self bigger than who you really are, the more you clarify issues to people that you are unschooled, despite all the laborious efforts that your Late respectable father had made in trying to give you the opportunity to earn a school certificate.

Well as we commend the Admission Board for this great and honest decision, let us quickly remind them also that this honest process should not only stop with FJC. At the State Department, we are now fully aware of those people from the National Intelligence Agency, (NIA) who had applied into the Law programme with very dismal qualifications. Most of these cabals and charlatans had indicated in their applications that they work with the NIA and had letters of recommendation from senior army officials. One of them had indicated in his application that he is “a nephew to the President” and had some training with the KGB in Russia, as well as MI 5 in the United kingdom. Unlike Fatou, but probably in the similar boat, the only academic qualification this so called “highly trained intelligence officer” can boast of is a Secondary Technical School leaver’s certificate, with three credits and three passes.

The Challenge for the Admission Board is therefore to ensure that all “Matured Students” who do not possess the minimum requirement are not admitted into these programmes.  Fafa Idirisa MBai, who chairs the selection committee into the Law programme, should be prepared to stand to his ground to ensure that even those who claim to have recommendation letters from the President without the minimum requirements are not admitted into the programmes.

“All people of good will are moved by the truth when it is honestly and sincerely told”. No preference for any “Matured Student”.  Period.
