It is quite disheartening that cabinet Secretaries are being hired and fired and exchanged by Yahya Jammeh of the Gambia as if changing his big Kaftans. Again the country witnessed another cabinet reshuffle and again there is a new Justice Minister.Jammeh does not mind who is a Secretary of State as long as there is a human figure in the position. From making career teachers Tourism ministers, Village Heads at Local Government, drunkards at the heart of our economy and now a judicial figure at the works and communications. True, Cabinet secretaries operate as political heads of a department of state as the permanent secretaries become the technocrats.However, in a country where most Permanent secretaries are rubber stamps and deputy permanent secretaries are July 22^nd movement members; ministers can be experts to lead the ship of state safely to shore; but if everybody is a knot, how would our country benefit from such expertise. This is the state of affairs in today’s Gambia. Nothing proper would be done and our economic, political and social structures would fall in the abyss. It is a big shame. Even if a Village head can be Local Government minister but let him be knowledgeable enough to avoid being swayed by his technocrats in a wrong direction.

He does not know how to innovate. Creating new departments of state add more budget strains on our economy. An economy hat has already collapsed. The Education Department can take care of Higher education in the country,infact there is a director of Secondary and tertiary education who oversee very effectively affairs of higher education. How can there be a department of Petroleum and energy when the much talked about oil is not seen and not talked about anymore? The ministers and there officials would just sit, do meetings and seminars and eat money and per diems without nothing being done; indeed they have no work to do. Such should be investigated and assented to by the National Assembly. Indeed it is not necessary as the National Assembly is a rubber stamp branch of the Government.

The Justice Minister is the Attorney General and the Chief Lawyer of the state. It is sad that Justice Ministers are being changed like underwear by the lunatic president of the Gambia. From Musa Bittaye, Awa Ceesay Sabally, Fatou Bon Bensouda, Pap Cheyasinne Secka  etc; the electric broom continues to sweep around by President Jammeh.In thirteen years Jammeh has hired and fired almost ten Justice Secrataries; it is at a stage that the position lacks the respect it deserves and any occupant would be watched as the other one whose days are numbered. As time goes on more and more would follow.

What is more disheartening is that Jammeh discredit most of our respected intellectuals. He lull them into coming home and work for there countries; they would answer the call with a sense of nationalism at heart. After there honey moon with Jammeh and start  to work efficiently and effectively without regards to anything else but duty to one’s country ,they would be disgraced and booted out losing everything else. Such was Momodou Sedat Jobe and Seedy M Sanneh; other hypocrites deserve what they had. Such are Amadou S Janneh and Sheikh Omar Faye. These two gentlemen stood here in the United States criticized Jammeh up to an extent of leading a coalition to make a case against him within the American Governement.They turn around and begin to glorify him, thus accepting his position. He used and dumped them. Sheikh Omar Faye came to the United States and organized picnics and sent fake photos and letters to Jammeh that the Gambians in the United States are supporting him. I have high regards for then captain Faye of Kudang Army Barracks who constantly brought his men for recreation activities at Armitage when I was a student. But this now retired Major Faye is a sycophant, a betrayer and a chameleon; I pity his integrity and looks to his future.

              Jammeh is someone who cannot be trusted; he is a selfish man who does not look back anytime and reconsider his decision. He does not want anyone to be more famous than him and also to correct his errors. He is an empty headed ignorant man who thinks he is a saint. Watch Balla G Jahumpa who campaigned for him last year, Saja Taal, Malick Jones and Mam Sait Ceesay, his Griots; even Musa Jammeh who lived with him since there days at the military was detained for more than a year and now rumors is going about Edward Singateh being fired, the last among his council members who would have gotten equal punishments like him when the coup was foiled.Yankuba Touray would not be talked about. Every one is aware how the disgraced griot is being silenced.

People like Momodou SK Manneh should be aware. This scenario should be eye openers to every one. If Jammeh ask you for service, say No; don’t think about patriotism because you do not serve your country if you work for Jammeh but him which no sane person would have the intention of. Let’s work together and salvage our country from this lunatic president and let’s not be divided among ourselves. With Unity comes strength.
