Breaking News:Colonel Peter Singhatey Resigns! Singhatey in Ireland pursuing Masters degree!

The Gambian Government has formally accepted the resignation of Colonel Peter Singhatey who is currently in Ireland pursuing a masters degree in Engineering. Colonel Singhatey a trained pilot tendered his resignation following his brother’s move to part with the Jammeh administration. Well placed state house sources said Peter was never fired but discharged from the army. “Once an officer opts for voluntary leave, he is automatically discharge from the Force. Peter’s resignation shocked the top brass of the Force. His terse letter explains among other things, the injustices in the army. The officer felt that it was counter productive for him to serve since the President was discriminating at them.” a top army officer.

Colonel Singhatey was second in command in Gambia’s armed Forces. Shortly he arrived in Ireland this past week, he wrote to the Gambian authorities announcing his immediate resignation from the Force. Singhatey’s resignation came as a surprise to the officers of the men and women of the armed forces. “Peter will never come to this country as long as President Jammeh continues to be the Head of State. The Singhatey’s have long distanced themselves from President Jammeh. They believe that the President is serving his own interest and not the interest of the state. Look at what he did on the sale of GAMTEL, GAMCEL AND GIA? Everybody here is pissed off with the President. It’s matter of time for the army to move in. There are writings on the wall for change. I spoke to Peter before he left and we know the plans already put in place. Yahya Jammeh will die like a chicken. He better watch his back, as his days are numbered.” said an insider at the State House in Banjul.

As the Singhateys continued to dominate local newspaper headlines, the President who is increasingly worried about the future of his government, has named LT. Colonel Masaneh Kinteh as Deputy Chief of Staff. Mr.Kinteh is now General Lang Tombong Tamba’s Deputy. His appointment is being seen as yet another ploy to get reed of the “Mandingka” officers in the army, as Jammeh have a special project to weed out other tribes suspected of being disloyal to his government. From 1994 to date, many Mandingka army officers have perished from the hands of the dictatorship. Masaneh Kinteh said our source will not stay long in that position, as Jammeh harbored special hatred for the Mandingka tribe.

It’s also gathered that Masaneh Kinteh who hails from Jarra is close friend of Peter Singhatey. It was earlier reported by Freedom’s Lamaran Jallow that both Kinteh and Peter were being targeted for removal by the President. Now that he had succeeded in parting with the Singhateys, Masaneh Kinteh job is on the line as well.

Major Yankuba Drammeh has been apopointed as Army Commander, also a Mandingka. The unsuspecting officers are being lined up to be framed sooner or later, the Freedom Newspaper can reveal. President Jammeh, said our source wants to "Jollanise the army." so that he will not have any security threat. There are reports circulating that Jammeh intends to hand over power to General Tamba through a planned palace coup. If that happens, Jammeh can continue to stay in the country while the Jolla leadership clique continues to hold the country onto ransom.

Confused by the Singhatey's move to part with his administration wthout any form of violence or rancour, the Gambian leader has sacked his newly appointed Works Minister Kebba Sanyang. Mr.Sanyang was asked to go home for no justified reasons.

It would be recalled that the Gambian President recently ordered for the killing of the two Singhatey brothers. At a meeting held in Kanilai, Lamarana Jallow recorded the President's voice, which was later handed to the Singhatey's. Jallow says he uses his cellular phone to record their conversation with the President. The said piece was a subject of investigation by the NIA, as they tried to the source of the story.

Meanwhile, some service chiefs and Members of the National Assembly has been meeting behind closed doors. Their talks centered on the need to declare the head of state insane. That Jammeh might as well be suffering from infirmity of mind to adequately run the affairs of the state. Jammeh himself is privy to the said plans, but does not know the people behind the plot.

Last week, the Sepaker of the National Assembly Fatou Jahumpa Ceesay told one of her mutual friends that she was poised to replace the president. She however, did not explain what might warrant Jammeh's departure. She just hinted that she was going to preside over the affairs of the state.

Days before FJC made the said statement, a prominent Marabou was seen at her residence. Two black cats and a dog were said to have been slaughtered at her residence. The move behind such an action is not yet clear, but it is gathered that the Speaker has been bragging that she would be the nation's first woman President.

This reporter visited FJC's  residence, where he met with the Marabou. The Marabou was heard saying" Insala, you will be President. You are a leader in the making. Fatou go and sleep, you are already protected by God. This country will end in your hands, God willing." said the Marabou.
