The recent situations in the Gambia have confirmed many speculations that Jammeh could no longer govern the Gambian state. It’s been three important meetings that Jammeh failed to attend. The OAU summit in Ghana, The Taiwan Africa Summit in Taipei and the on going UN General Assembly. This is a president who likes to throttle the globe. At onetime during the early acquisition of the controversial New Millennium Airline; there was never a month that Jammeh do not embark on at least two trips outside the Gambia. He was so aero happy that people like FJC bragged that he is a pilot and drives his own plane and GRTS glorified it then. It came to climax when reportedly Taiwan gave him a fully furnished state of the art presidential Jet equipped with offices and presidential suite. He started the usual merry go around all over the world, going everywhere even where he is not invited; giving lifts to presidents at conferences and visits. It was a very awkward and awful experience for the Gambian people whose tax dollars are used for the Aircrafts and the hefty per diems.
Astonishingly, all is grounded now and finally the jetliner is a no go plane. I recently overheard some of his sycophants quoting him as saying that he doesn’t travel during Ramadan, which is a holy month. That sounds a good excuse but obviously that is not true. How many times did Jammeh travel during Ramadan? The truth is that he is scared to be accountable in Ghana on the faith of there forty sons who disappeared and widely believed to have been murdered by the thugs of his regime; and better still WAJA based in Ghana would have taken him to task about the treatment and disappearance of Journalists in the Gambia. The Taiwanese were disappointed for not receiving there greatest friend in the world.However, it is not for anything but the fragile nature of his regime. The military has swayed against him, the populace is angry about the price of commodities and the seizure of people’s lands. Truly Jammeh has completed the “Jamahiriya” project in the Gambia.
Every thing in the country belongs to him; every Government servant serves at his pleasure. He controls the legislature, Executive and the Judicuary.Everbody must answer his call. See ministers and parliamentarians sweating at his farm in Kanilai and the community suffocating in Barajally and Jahally Pacharr rice fields; not mentioning the people of Siffoe and Kiti.All over the country, Jammeh hijacks people’s lands and pose as a farmer whilst the poor people work out of fear as if we are in 21st century slavery. It is really very disheartening and uncalled for by Jammeh to make his fathers; mothers and intellectuals work for him because he is a president.
Jaameh is not also in New York and he hasn’t been here for two years now. The people in the United States would challenge him as they did to Ahmadinejad even though he is a nobody under their eyes.CPJ and the Human Rights organizations have enough documentation of the atrocities committed by this young dictator. On advent to the land of freedom, he would be molested and dehumanized.
At last as President Bush said yesterday of Castro” In Cuba, the reign of a dictator is nearing an end” So true of the Gambia; this young Castro trained, Chavez nurtured and Ahmanidejad reinforced dictator in the Gambia is witnessing his last straw of survival. With the divorce of the twin singhateh’s whose cruel and inhuman deeds helped consolidate Jammeh in power, the journalist hating Bajinkas and the opposition cursing Tourays are all witnesses to a sheer betrayal. The Independent Newspaper attacker never thought he would sell perfumes at Broadway in New York. Now he is back to square one just because of loyalty to a tyrant.
All the strong branches have now fallen apart and it is only the trunk of the tree is left. The bug infested roots are waning out and only the trunk remains of the tree.Jammeh is really confused and besieged. He cannot go to Morocco because Zeinab don’t love him and would leave him sooner he is no longer President; Senegal wouldn’t welcome him because he is a stubborn brother who is helping to destabilize there country and Human Rights organizations and the Blood Diamond commission would look for you anywhere anytime Baba Jobe is Handed to them. I guess he still has the conviction that “he would die before relinquishing power”. We would do everything to make sure he doesn’t and dance to his own music. The atrocities Jammeh committed are so numerous that without Justice many people would live with regrets throughout there lives. There is no family in the Gambia that is not affected by Jammeh’s atrocities.
We must not let another Abacha to happen.Jammeh must account to his deeds and put to the guillotine. The time is clicking. Let Justice Guide our actions, our promise we renew. To the Gambia ever true.
