by Our Own Cassandra
The Daily Observer have been so useless, demeaning, unprofessional, erratic and censored that they do not have enough readership and topics to write on that they are bent on attacking people who are proud to be exercising there freedom of Speech they have been forced to deny themselves. Here them say: “In the case of The Gambia, this facility is being widely abused by some of our compatriots in the diaspora, who have set up online newspapers, geared towards spreading hateful, malicious and negative propaganda against individuals and the state”.
I do not believe that the Daily Observer stands tall to evaluate Journalists in the Diaspora. Right now the paper is garbage; the Managing Director is a drunkard butt licker who compromises with his dignity and enormous education to be a sycophant disregarded nonentic before a Young Man who is fit to be his son.Dr Saja Taal do not have to worship Yahya Jammeh as a Demi God because he knows very well that Jammeh do not regard him as a force to be reckoned with. He knows that no body respects you and nobody would vote him because of you.Infact Jammeh have repeatedly made everybody known that he is being voted in by devils and so to speak devils ,because Gambians are Peace Loving and voted him in to avoid trouble as reminiscent by the big Arms that follows him during campaigns.
Mr. Taal should be made aware that Gambian Journalists who set up and write on the Cyber space are victims of censorship that he currently accepts dearly; The freedom you talking about is not available back home where Media Houses are being closed, Journalists being arrested and jailed for months without trial ,intimidation of journalists and the closure of media houses is the order of the day.Sarja Taal as Permanent Secreatry,Lecturer,APRC Administrative Secretary have not and never said anything on record to challenge such atrocities but now when those Journalists found sanctuary and wants to write what you are scared to write on; you call them Cyber Terrorists.
No wonder, anyone who knows Sarja Taal would never be surprised; The Saja Taal who queried against GAMSU celebrating International Students Day at the University Faculty building in kanifing in 2001,The SARJA Taal who has been fired and hired many different times by Jammeh and the Sarja Taal who was recently questioned by the notorious NIA.Let me tell you A B S Taal, your days are numbered because you are a nobody under Jammeh’s eye and we will write it whenever you are fired and jailed which is just around the corner. Hear them again:
“If they feel that the current government is not living up to their expectations, then they should join the existing registered political parties or form their own political organizations to sell their progarmmes and policies to the electorate for them to decide instead of engaging in malicious propaganda and slander”.
They very well know that that is not feasible because the climate doesn’t exist. We all see how intolerant this Government is to opposition parties. There is no level playing field and many bottlenecks would tactically deny us from contesting.Infact I would like to inform you that Journalists are not politicians, we are the fourth organ of Government .We wrote for or against any politician or political party or civil society members ,anything for the public good without fear or favor.Indeed, the Daily observer knows if the Government departments are not forced to advertise in it and subscribe to it, it would be gone by now because it is not a Newspaper but a propaganda arm of the Government. It writes sensational stories and fills the pages about lies of the Governemnt.Indeed the Journalists in the Diaspora are more patriotic than you. We take time from our busy schedules to observe and comment on the situation of our motherland; also we send remittances back home to take care of our families and most importantly we struggle to weed out the cankerworm at the helm of our Government. The real terrorist, who hijacked our economy, molested our people, tainted our image abroad and looted our state coffers. Need I SAY MORE? I could believe that you are a big fan of the Cyber space and we would continuously feed you with accurate, reliable and up to date information about the Gambia OUR HOMELAND. In the end everyone would know the real Cyber Terrorists are at the Daily Observer. Shame on YOU.
