Jammeh's Electric Broom: Who is Next? Town Crier Is Back
I will first of all give thanks to Almighty Allah for guiding us throughout
the fasting period. May those who participated genuinely be rewarded for
their efforts.
Life my grandmother used to say is two-pronged. You either live it, or
people will live it for you. For those who have sold out their souls to
Jammeh, you will continue to be flip flopped like pancakes being
fried(Bahna). The latter is the worst. Our nation today has
reached that stage where one person is trying to live our lives. Jammeh
wants to be Gambia for us. This is unacceptable since it tantamounts to
enslavement. When actions are not followed by afore thought, they become
callous and heinous. This wanton hiring and firing must stop or Oga should
rightly and honesty kick himself in between the legs. He cannot claim that
all those that have been sacked are either all corrupt or incompetent. If
this is the case then Gambia and Gambians have no future. We have
witnessedOga taking over Agriculture and nothing came out of it. We
've also witnessed him taking over works, nothing came out of it. We are
witnesses yet again when he took over NAWEC and what did we see? Nothingness
as usual. In all these cases, where was the unsparing electric broom?
Broken? Was it not yet charged? We have seen Yaya misuse this broom only to
neglect it when it came to his own incompetence. A wise man once said, we
should let sleeping dogs lie but Oga has been pulling the ears of the
sleeping dogs and it is about time these vicious dogs from Ghana, Nigeria
and the International court of justice are wake up and engulf him for good.
He may think that these indictments and rulings won't affect him but let him
ask his god father Charles Taylor who was snatched like a rat while fleeing
through Nigeria-Cameroon border. Who knows Oga might also be snatched trying
to sneak through the forest of Casamance trying to reach his brothers hiding
in the thickets of Casamance. Wade will have no other option but to release
the whole Senegalese army to hunt him down. Prudence teaches that you
de-escalate problems before they engulf you but this is not what you have been doing
instead you're adding fuel to the fire.
*University of** the** Gambia.*
In as much as we are with you in this experimental period, we fully know
that the original idea of a university for Gambia was not yours. Those of us
who have been around and interact with government officials know that the
idea was first touted by the ex-Jawara regime well before you. In as much as
we have a university by name, it is pathetic to see what our brothers and
sisters go through before they graduate. This university is beset by lack of
books for the students. Even materials for them to type and print their
assignments are lacking and you're spending millions in a so called July 22
nd celebrations as well as your one man infamous Kanilai festivals. Students
have to resort to friends and relatives to print their materials for them.
Books are photocopied en masse against the copy right rules of the authors.
And upon all this you had the audacity to say, that the next convocation
will take place in Faraba where the new proposed site of the University is
located. Do you know what you're talking about? Building a university is not
like building one small jola hut, you get that? If you don't know the pains
of the students, ask them to write anonymously what their problems are and
have those papers sent to you. You will not sleep that night when you see
what these students go through. Some of their classes don't even have enough
chairs. Sometimes they resort to standing during lectures or even use the
lecturer's chair if he or she is lucky to have one for himself or herself. I
have gone there to see things first hand. If you don't believe me, go there
impromptu during lectures and find out. Even my comrades in uniform who are
attending classes there talk openly about these problems.
*** "**I have forgiven Gambians:**Gambians should forgive me**"***
This statement is fresh in our ears. What a short memory you have Oga.
During your inaugural bantering, this is one of the statements you spitted
out. And it is not even a long time ago. You have gone back to your old sins
for which you've asked us to forgive you. Are you serious at all when you
speak to us Gambians? It is like giving you a deafening slap and saying
forgive me and the next minute another nastier slap follows. Will you
forgive me this time around? You know the reasons why you asked for our
forgiveness. You never mentioned it us what it was we should forgive you for.
You have turned around and started the mad mis-hiring and sacking
coupledwith incarcerating people for longer period
s without charge. It is only in an uncivilized world like the one in your
head that humans can just be bundled into a prison or one dirty police cell
without due regard to law. Where is Dembo alias Rambo? Where is master
Fofana, where is Ebrima Manneh the journalist? If these people have violated
the laws of the land, what is keeping the state in charging them instead of
putting them and their loved ones through this mental torture? Yaya, let me
ask you this simple questions. Do you think your daughter will mingle with
us freely when you're no more? Do you sit at the end of the day and take
stock of what you accomplished? Do you give thought to your actions, words
before carrying them out? Why create uncomfortable environment for this poor
little girl who will like to live a life without fear of being pointed at "aha
that's the daughter of the wicked dictator Yaya Jammeh" Let's not associate
with her. Zenaib Jammeh, you have a lot of work to do with yahya and I know
you can do it. You helped him drop the masquerade style dressing he was fond
of in his early days. We have no other option but to turn to you. You have
seen how your mum used to help your dad in running his office. Come on it is
time to apply those skills. Don't sit idly by and see your husband go astray
if you love him. Time to help: so help us Zenaib.
*Sankanu give us a break***
Did I see a Banjul-Basse boring article by Sankanu a few weeks back? What
captivated me was not the long and winding material but the* LLB* and*
LLM*he put under his name. Please,
please we don't care what qualifications you have but how well you're using
them. After all your degrees are yours and putting them online for all to
see has no bearing on us. This is just a sign of pomposity. Should I also
put online how many heavy weapons I can use? Adolt Hitler once said "bring
your laws and I will bring my gun and we will see who will win" I can
claim4 PhDs and whose bread will it be? Mine.
And the most interesting thing is that with all your law degrees, you seem
to be doing more of media work than practicing law. Wonders shall never
cease so long as tomorrow comes. Peace brother. Wasalam
