In appreciation for the release of AI reps- Omar Saidy-Khan Writes From Louisville By Omar Saidy-Khan, Louisville, KY
That any one with even an infinitesimal amount of intelligence would
find anything appreciative in the release of innocent AI
representatives is quite stupendous.
What is here to be appreciated is the lack of justice and the glue that
holds democracies together, i.e LIBERTY. These AI reps have done
nothing wrong and should never have been arrested at all. We should have
been looking for an apology form your excellency. What mercies have been
rendered? What magnanimity has been meted out towards the alleged
culprits? Please ,Mr Scales answer these questions in the affirmative,
or your appreciations are all hollow and misplaced. Your assumed
constructive criticisms lack any constructiveness, and not useful for
they are purely and simply efforts at appeasement of the tyranny that
prevails in my PAPA'S land. Unless you denounce your advocacies and
support for the dictatorial regime in the Gambia you will lose
credibility with many like me- whether that matters to you is another
question al together .In your former life your support was seen as
misguided, but we must take you seriously. Our struggle is a hard and
viciously challenged by the powers that be and any frivolous attitudes
will not be tolerated.
Not only his human rights abuses are to be taken seriously but the
economic mismanagement, and open plunder of the state coffers have to be
addressed with seriousness. This bunch of thugs and incompetent
illiterates have usurped power that belonged to the people and any
appreciation for any part of that enterprise is offensive. No crime is
more heinous than denying us of our inalienable rights, should you be
giving any commendations; and especially from a citizen of my former
colonial master, makes it even more painful.
This jerk has turned our sacred constitution on it's head with lying
promises of probity, accountability and openness. Where have does
promises gone. Has he lived up to any of the laudable promises? I f he
had at least tried, I would be dissatisfied, but tempered in my
opposition. Over the detest and abhorrence of the Gambian people he has
brought hardship and death to many .Since you are a Briton, are you a
royalist, or a democrat? I ask, not to be rude ,but any democrat worthy
of his salt will equally abhor the situation in my country not send
commendations to a dictator as you have continued to do all these years
that I have read your articles, even though they (the articles) read
very uneducated both in terms of the grammar and spelling. Even if you
are a royalist ,the fact that the fuel for democracies is LIBERTY is a
given. Can you tell that this ingredient is bountiful in the present
Gambia?Or you have concluded that since you the British are O.K with
your archaic system we should be too with buffoon of a ruler who does
not care about human life as we are just chattel.
We refuse to be tricked again. Your trudging on worn out route of
condemning a few cases will not make up for your open support of the
regime; for you ought have known better. I detest your piece because it
has not addressed the true nature of the tyranny, that you know ,since
you have been one of the sycophants of this regime
And until recently have become sensible and wise.
You have referred to the massacres of ECOWAS citizens as ALLEGED.
Where have you been? Honest folks have seen the dead bodies and have
concluded that the Massacre happened , it is not alleged any more. The
claim that Yaya's action amounts to step in the right direction is not
quite true. Ican vouch that the majority are as cynical as I am ,and
rightly so. It is my feeling that you wished that Yaya can display some
reasonableness that will endear you to him more. But we are not fooled
to see him in his true color-a tyrant. The fact of the matter is he has
not a speck of evidence to detain these innocent souls and that should
be your commentary and not an appreciation of undoing the terrible wrong
he has committed. He was forced by universal outrage that ensured after
this barbarous act, and only you or some one with shallow mentality
would be sending appreciations to him.
Now you suggested and touted a" positive note of the state of the
economy. And quoted 5% inflation, and a predicted 6-7% growth, with
showering a Mr Gaye with praise for competent management. May be you
need to talk to my poor family who have no jobs or source of money to
buy your predicted drop in the price of rice. It is a mandinka adage
that it is proper to ask the hungry to come to lunch than worrying about
whether he had washed his hands. Promises are easy to make, especially
in the present day that there is no accountability. Your phantom growth
in the farming sector would be a welcome sign if the farmers can expect
a market for their produces. But
If recent trends are any thing to go by they will again be disappointed.
I am glad you can receive such privileged information of loans and aid
to reinforce this situation. Let us accept all this good economic
forecasts you foisted, but this are all not yet here so who knows , I
would ask. And even if this come to fruition who says the same rampant
corruption and out-of-budget appropriation will end.
Why should I accept your claim that your excellency boldly and bravely
took the Gambian people through the door of democracy when he forcefully
overthrew a legally constituted government, am I dreaming, or are you
hallucinating. His ascension to power was criminal and is still
criminal. The boy is a criminal and all his cohorts are criminals
,that's the truth and any other description is false. His rule is
directed by the character of his power grip ,it is criminal in nature
and in practice. You are waging a lost battle if your efforts are to
cajole the fool to sensibility. You sound repugnantly patronizing in the
way you address yourself to the evil that the AFPRC govt is. I have no
reason to disbelieve the numerous assistances you purportedly rendered
to Gambians, and I wish to join them in true appreciation of your
humanity, but when it comes to the present regime, you do not seem to
have a clue as to what to do about our predicament. I do not for a
second demean your humanitarian contributions.
With a tremendous amount of humility I ask you to refrain from showing
your ill-informed appreciation to such injustice. Gambians will not stop
being compassionate and truly humane-not emerging as you
posited-society. That is what we are, no pretensions at all. That is our
MO. IT may seem accidental to some but for the the Gambian We're at a
lost watching and bearing the in humane treatment of another human, by
the thugs parading as a government, because your excellency and his
bunch of hoodlums and criminals are acting in a way inimical to Gambian
sensibilities. I hope you go back on your praises of the Jammeh rule and
join us in reality to force him out of office as soon as possible.
Thanks for your indulgence. | Posted on Monday, October 15, 2007 (Archive on Tuesday, October 30, 2007) Posted by PNMBAI Contributed by PNMBAI
