Freedom Newspaper Publisher and his family thank the Sene-Gambian Community in Raleigh NC!!
The Publisher and Managing Editor of the Freedom Newspaper, Pa Nderry M’Bai, and his family want to thank the Sene- Gambian Community in Raleigh, North Carolina,  for standing by him during his son’s naming ceremony this past Wednesday. A sizable crowd converged at M’Bai’s apartment in North Raleigh,  in response to an invitation to witness baby Mbai’s naming ceremony. The gathering was led in prayers by the vulnerable Imam of Raleigh, Amadou Kanteh. The respectable Imam quoted various verses before officially declaring the bay’s name. Guests came as far as from Atlanta, Georgia.

Due to the heavy rains, the evening barbecue could not go ahead. The barbecue was rescheduled for this Sunday at Mr.M’Bai house. The general public are invited to grace the occasion. There is enough meat to enjoy. Please be there at 5 O clock for the grill.

Formally thanking the crowd Mr.M’Bai remarked” We are very impressed by the high turnout. The Gambian Community in Raleigh, have proven to be good neighbors. This is all what neighborliness is about. We rejoice together during the time of peace and share grieve whenever it happened. On behalf of the MBai family, I want thank the Gambian Community in Raleigh, for standing by us in this auspicious occasion. We are proud of you. Despite your respective busy schedules, you have catered time to witness the naming ceremony. We say a big thank you to the people of Raleigh.”

Mr.MBai  said every human being have his own shortcomings and that he MBai was not an exception. He therefore uses the occasion to apologize to the Sene-Gambian Community for his inability to attend certain programs in the past. This, according to  M’Bai was due to lack of mobility. “ Now that I got a car, I will do everything possible to attend Gambian and Senegalese programs. One needs a car to navigate around town. It’s crucially imperative for one to get a car in the Cities like Raleigh. It was never intentional on my part not to attend Community Programs. I humbly apologize to anyone I wronged whether knowingly or unknowingly. Your presence here today suggest that there is unity among the SeneGambian Community. I’m a happy man today. You are worth emulation. Lets keep the momentum despite our different political affiliations.” MBai remarked.

According to Mr.M’Bai he was surprised to see people from different political groupings.” I hope Gambians at home would emulate the people of Raleigh. In this Community, when it comes to Social and Community events, politics is set aside. We treat each other as brothers and sisters. We help one another during the time of joy and grieve. There is high sense of unity among Gambians here.” he added.

Speaking earlier, veteran Gambian Lawyer Ousman Sillah thanked the gathering for attending the occasion. Mr.Sillah reaffirmed Imam’s Kanteh’s earlier quotation of the Islamic verses. Lawyer Sillah said as Muslims, we have to pray for one another, most importantly on issues relating to year after.

Mr.Sillah said he was very encouraged by  Mr.M’Bai’s humble move to admit his shortcomings. Mr.Sillah advised Mr.M’Bai to work with the Community at all times. He says unity is strength and therefore no man is an Island.

For his part Uncle Saul Jobe, a senior Citizen, also appealed for unity amongst the Gambian Community. He says with unity nothing is impossible. Mr.Jobe said he knew Mr.M’Bai since he was in The Gambia and therefore used the occasion to congratulate him for the new born baby boy. Uncle Saul however, emphasized the need for Gambians to unite and avoid issues that would divide them.

Mr.M’Bai’s wife and Six  year old daughter resettled into the US in December of 2006. His daughter had just celebrated her six year birthday. He reunited with his family after two and half year of separation. He was forced into exile by the repressive regime in The Gambia. His family had since been settling down in the US gradually.

Finally, Mr.M’Bai said he want to thank all those who contributed towards the occasion, whether by way of material or financial in making his son’s naming ceremony a success. “ On behalf my family, I want thank all those who helped to make this occasion a success. Our thanks goes to Michael Scales and his Princess wife, and two Gambian brothers who wished not to be named for the financial contribution they extended to our family. These people are true friends of our family. We also want to thank the Sene-Gambian Community in Raleigh, for their respective contributions to make the ceremony a success story. We are very grateful to you all. We are proud of the Sene-Gambian Community.”
