Editorial: Why SOS Neneh Macdouall Gaye Should Be Fired!!! Bakary Njie, Omar Ndow and Katim Touray victim of Conspiracy

President Yahya Jammeh should appoint the right people to man the nation’s Information Ministry. The Gambia is losing millions of Dalasis, as a result of poor Management at the Information Department. SOS Neneh Macdouall Gaye, is not qualified enough to run such an important Ministry . She is a square peg in a round hold. Thanks to Neneh’s ignorance and arrogance, GAMTEL and other income generating sectors within her Ministry are grounded today. She uses the likes of Omar Ndow, Katim Touray and others as scape goats to cover her own in-competency. President Jammeh acting on Neneh’s lies and smear campaign, he sacked these hard working folks. GAMTEL has been Africa’s leading telecommunication outlet. Under Bakary Njie‘s watch, GAMTEL was the bastion of hope for Gambia and Africa as a whole. GAMTEL staffers enjoyed annual bonus and decent salaries. The institution had never failed to meets its financial obligations to Government. Poor Neneh, came in and undermined Bakary Njie, Omar Ndow and Katim Touray’s fine legacy. She disburses GAMTEL funds without proper accountability. She also allowed her husband to work with her in the same Department of State, which is morally wrong. Pa Gaye used to hold Managerial position at GAMTEL. Reports have it that Neneh is doing all these nonsense, just to pave way for her husband to takeover GAMTEL one day. Gambians are keenly watching developments.

Throughout her life, Neneh has never assumed a serious managerial duties. Appointing her to the portfolio of Cabinet Minister, means giving her license to mortgage the nation’s Information Department. From local journalists, technocrats, and Information staffers have suffered from the hands of this disgraced Secretary of State. She uses her position to fire people, whom she perceived to be in her bad books. She also masterminds the arrest of journalists, technocrats and local staffers of the Information Department. This woman’s second name is “ Madam Evil Macdouall Gaye.” Almost, everyone in that Ministry is angry with Gaye. They want to see her leave come what may. From the engineers, lines men, technocrats and some Cabinet colleagues are not happy about the way Gaye handles that Ministry.

There is no way that all these fired GAMTEL MDS could be at fault. These people are victims of well coordinated conspiracy. President Jammeh stands to be accused of favoritism, if he fails to act now. How comes that Bakary, Omar and Katim should be blamed for the Ministry’s problems, when the Secretary of State is being excluded. It’s our firm belief that if there should be any sacking, SOS Gaye ought to have been the first person to be fired. She is a liability to the said Ministry. She is also a liability to the Gambia and her people. It’s better to hire a layman in the streets than SOS Gaye. She is an empty barrel with a lot of noise. Here is a Minister, who cannot even write a simple project proposal. Her Permanent Secretary spent a quiet an amount of time trying to make sense of her substandard write-ups. It’s an insult for President Jammeh to hire such a nonentity.

Just yesterday, the Point Newspaper, reported about the resignation of SOS Gaye’s Permanent Secretary, in the person of Mustapha Marong. Marong calls it quits at a time, when Gaye was reported to be on an overseas trip. There are other staffers at the said Ministry, who are on the verge of leaving. They cannot withstand SOS’S Gaye’s rude and crude attitude. How can a Minister cursed her subordinates, just because she is close to the President. President Jammeh never gave license to Neneh to insult and threatened technocrats. Neneh got to respect that high office or call it a day. Bringing one’s domestic problems at works, is out of place in any decent working environment. You got to respect your subordinates. President Jammeh receiving you at Kanilia during wee hours, don’t make you a Demi-God. Your relationship with President Jammeh have nothing to do with your work. Treat these workers with respect, if you are truly interested about advancing that Ministry.

Most of the line problems at GAMTEL, could be attributable to sabotage. How can these engineers work if they are not happy? Gambians overseas spent days on the phone before getting the chance of talking to their loved ones. The lines in The Gambia, are either busy or dead. Phone card companies blamed the problem to poor Communication network in The Gambia. The lines are often jammed. Cross lines are common in The Gambia. This means, I can listen to the President's coversation with his wife or security. The communication problem is a threat to national security. It's about time for Gaye to step down and allow the right people to head that Ministry.

The President should seriously look into the problems of the Department of State For Information. If it means sacrificing SOS Gaye and meet the needs of the staff it worth it. It makes no sense to allow Neneh to wreck the said Department of State to the expense of the nation.

What’s baffling is that, SOS Gaye is harassing these poor workers on a daily basis, in the name of the President. She kept on saying “HE says this and that.” just to achieve her own personal interest. Unless, SOS Gaye is removed, nothing wouldn’t work at the said Ministry. President Jammeh should consider redeploying Neneh to a junior Ministry. She is assigned to a wrong Department of State. Please consider this proposal in the interest of The Gambia and her people. Neneh is a failure.
