Breaking News:UDP'S Mass Jobe Dies!!!
.jpg) The death of Mass Jobe, a strong supporter of the opposition United Democratic Party, has been announced.Mr.Jobe widley known for his strong opposition against President Yahya Jammeh and his APRC was part of UDP'S elders Committee. Jobe has repeatedly called on the then junta to return to Barracks, a call ignored by the dictatorship. It was Jobe's believe that a soldier without political education was virtually a criminal.
The late Mass Jobe, would be greatly missed by the UDP leadership and party supporters. His remains were laid to rest Wednesday in Serrekunda. Mr.Jobe was among the country's senior citizens, who have the dearing mind to openly condemn the human rights abuses taking place in The Gambia. A good orator, Jobe captivates his audience with his anti Jammeh sologans. He believes that the military should confine themselves in the Barracks and not to meddle into the country's active politics.
Prior to teaming up with the opposition UDP led by veteran Human Rights Lawyer Ousainou Darboe, Jobe was one of the heavy weights of the then disbanded People's Progressive Party, the (PPP). His relationship with deposed President Jawara, was no secret to the average Gambian. He joined the UDP due to his love for democracy and good governance. Jobe has in the past condemned the military coup, which he describes as "unconstitutional."
His burial was well attended. People from various walks of life showed up to pay their last respect to the late politician. UDP leader Ousainou Darboe, was quoted as saying that Mr.Jobe's demise was a big loss for the UDP and the Gambia as a nation. Darboe then urged the congregation to pray for Mass Jobe's eternal rest.
On Wednesday, Mr.Darboe called his Party militants in the United States, informing them about the unfortunate incident, which devastated the entire UDP. UDP supporters in turn prayed for Mass's eternal rest. Across the country, people are mourning the late Mass Jobe, a respectable senior citizen. |
