In what appears to be a major cabinet reshuffle, Senegalese President Abdoulie Wade has downsize his cabinet from 38 Ministers to 28. Ten Government Ministers lost their portfolios in this major changes, which observes say surprises Senegalese. The move followed major economic reforms spearheaded by President Wade.
The Government says it want to cut down public spending. It’s working hard to maintain a sound and vibrant economy in the former French colony.
Eight women were affected in Wade’s Thursday cabinet reshuffle. Senegalese both home and abroad have been voicing their opposition to the Government’s recent move to reduce salaries. But the Government says in order to attract economic growth public spending must be controlled.
