Ghanaian Killings in Gambia: Police Chief Says There Is Enough Evidence To Prosecute Yahya Jammeh!!
By Lamin Jammeh, Banjul.
Tempers are running high amongst officials of The Gambia Police Force, following President Yahya Jammeh’s denial of killing 44 Ghanaian Nationals and a score of other West African Immigrants in July of 2005. A highly placed police source who reached the Freedom Newspaper today said Jammeh is provoking Members of the Force who participated into the investigations of the said state “sponsored murder against Ghanaians and other African Nationals.” The Police Chief said there are material evidence available to indict Yahya Jammeh and co accused persons in crime. The official says Ghanaians should not watch by allowing Jammeh playing with their intelligence. “Since the denial of the murder of the innocent Ghanaians in the Gambia by the dictator, my heart seems to be coming out from my mouth due to anger. You see, the dice has already been cast and there should be no more time wasting in bringing criminal charges against Jammeh.“ said the official.
Based on the evidence we presented to your paper he went on “ there is ample and credible evidence beyond all reasonable doubts of shadow to bring Jammeh to answer charges of Genocide. As the saying goes, 'Justice delay is Justice Denied. The Ghanaian families should see Justice be done immediately.”
The police chief says they as Detective officers attached to the Serious Crime office in Banjul have played their respective roles in exposing Yahya Jammeh to the World, by highlighting the atrocities perpetrated by his hit men through the Freedom Newspaper. The official says it’s about time for Ghanaians to serious actions and bring Jammeh to book.
“ Let me tell you that Jammeh can run away but he definitely cannot hide. He has been exposed by very competent sources from the police. He lied when he said he has a good relation with President Kuffor. If what he claims is to be believed, why did he hide the mass grave where those bodies were dumped? If he has good relations with Kuffor, why it is not that every year that mass grave is visited by both the Gambian and Ghanaian authorities to commemorate the incident. If I can remember, he said those Ghanaians were killed and dumped in the Gambia, if this is what he said, then this is nonsense!”
The official added “At this year's legal years celebrations some few days ago, he was teasing lawyers telling them 'My lord Objection' and he went further to tell them that they waste people's time in court by telling them ' you are here to answer questions and not to ask questions'. Mr. Editor this guy is on rehearsals before he faces the International Criminal Courts in the Hague.”
