Dear Mr.Editor,
I was highly amused at Mr.Jammeh's goading of British High Commissioner, His Excellency, Mr. Phil Sinkinson, Holder of an O.B.E. {Order of The British Empire}.For outstanding service to The Commonwealth.
I was equally disturbed at Mr.Jammeh's reference to The Gambia being a "Snake".....Just when you thought is was safe to get back in the water.........?
May I offer some respectful advice to His Excellency....seeing as Ive been around a little longer and know Mr.Jammeh better than most.
Dont be at all surprised if Mr.Jammeh, announces soon that he has discovered an alternative to the human brain.This organ may well be powered by a Taiwanese solar panel situated on the back of his head, which also plays reggae music and can pick up speech's from Fidel Castro, announcing that they will have a democracy like no other.This as it bounces off a Chinese satellite to pick up Radio France in F.M. Mr.Jammeh should up date the map in his office dating from 1346.
May I respectfully advise that Mr.Jammeh consults his young students at his
Illustrious University....who will confirm that the world is,,, not square and he wont fall off the edge of the world if he takes a slow boat over the horizon to Cuba.
Phil's predecessor,H.E. John Perret, had an antidote to Jammeh's insults.
He would simply collect his papers and quietly leave the auditorium in British military fashion , with all the precision of the measured step of a parade ground exercise.
I must admit to being proud to meet Mr.Perret by appointment,with some eagerness as I was intrigued to see this legendary Rambo'esk figure of British Diplomacy. It was heart warming to experience this ageing little man shuffling around his reinforced Sheffield steel office,whilst in pursuit of his only teabag attached to a string.He made me a brew and offered to share his rich tea biscuits with me.
He reminded me of our Ambassador to Switzerland at the outbreak of The Second World War...who was confronted by a messenger from Hitler offering the terms for the British surrender.From memory he said,
"You can ride in your Panzers up Whitehall.....you can even murder us in our millions.....but we will never surrender "!!!
My patience with Mr.Jammeh is wearing thin....stand by for more revelations in the near future.
