The sterling relationship between our Army Gen. or Brigadier Lang Tombong Tamba and Col. Massaneh Kinteh is really unpleasant due to one reason or the other. Firstly, Lang is a Jola with little or no merit in Militia, he had a very weak results at ordinary levels in the late 1970s,. Lang Tombong Tamba used to cry and tell the school watchmen to talk to Mr. Hakim the then Principal at the time to tell him to just push him to complete his high school, because he wants to joint the Army which requires no much knowledge. The likes of Late Kemo Jawla, Yaya Jattta, Yusupha Jammeh, the latter been the Chief of the caretakers do used to convince the Principal and life goes on.
Secondly, Lang Tombong has only been sent on a peace keeping for a brief and returned to the Gambia. So he knows nothing about the war field and why has he been promoted to so rapidly to the highest Rank that every one in the Army talk about today leaving his "classes " at the bottom of the table. In Army, when we say class we mean batch mates who trained together.
Better still, Col.Masanneh`s academic Qualification and Military capability is very high .He has gone on series of peace keeping missions and fought like a lion in Liberia to restore peace in that country. He has done most of his Military trainings with the British Technical team under the then Major Allen, who was known by every Gambian including ALPHA Khan of the then Brikama Junior Secondary School at the time.
Col.Massaneh Kinteh was also well trained by the Gambia Turkey Technical Training Team (G.T.T.T), and has satisfied the trainers at the time and was recommended by the Turkish training team to head the Army in the Gambia one day. He had a very good Ordinary '(O' ) levels at the time, with at least second Division upper level which is wonderful compare to the learning excellence at the time in the early 1980s.
Brig. Lang is a Jola trying to promote only Jolas and sending them on Peace Keeping, employing mainly Jolas at the N.I.A, police and the Army. Moreover, lang is although a superior to Mass but Mass has more support than him.
While Mass,is a junior to lang with his military capabilities, Lang has fought for his closeness to the Dictator Jammeh. Lang and Mass should see the Gambia and not ethnic lines as NFANLEE KEBBEH is craving for. Let both have at the back of their minds that one day they will not be there. MR. Brigadier lang and Col. Mass Kinteh should be carefull and ignore their personal differences. Or Mass either retires or fled the country if not history will soon have him on records. Yaya JAMMEH does not want to see any ones name going too high in the Army let alone his own kingdom.
We feel it might be too late but Mass and Lang should refrain from tainting each other when they are with their loved ones. Information leaks very fast and now that even the walls and slabs, trees, cockroaches at the latrines, trees around the state house and in Banjul and Kanillai have ears.
Well there is a serious problem between Lang and Mass and need to be solved they know in their hearts of course. I am saying what I know or else one of them will live to regret why he was born. When a cow defecates he thinks he is soiling the pasture , but lets see whose buttock will first get soiled. When two Elephants roar and fight it is the grass that suffers, and who are the Grasses here? we the citizens. Do we sit to see an unfortunate situation happens in the Gambia. We the Gambian are very good at pointing out problems but we are never solution oriented.

Make hay while the sun shines, and action taken now may save uch trouble later. Army is not the home of a cow boy where jungle law pays dividend. Gambians lets get up and solve the issue at hand.
The highly rumored thing today in the Army is that when shall we leave for Spain, Italy or any other European nation because the Army is no more safe for us. We have our own M….Killers who are raping their own relatives killing them all along. Some take Massaneh as a friend to connive and help them to be sent on peace keepings but only few are taken among them while only Jolas are mainly featured in why? So lang and NFANLEE KEBBEH are down playing with us says a soldier at the gator in Lartikunda Sabiji. It is true that not all soldiers are happy with situation in the Gambia Armed Forces as compared to the later.
