Thankyou for expressing great interest in the plight of your fellow citizen Mr.Momodu Sanneh.The situation as I read it is that.....
Following the report in the Daily Observer, I sent an e/mail to them expressing concern and my wish to offer any reasonable assistance.I also sent an e/mail to His Excellancy The British High Commissioner offering any reasonable assistance.
The Daily Observer did not respond, so I have sent another e/mail as they asked for interested parties to come forward.
I have sent an e/mail to Madam High Commissioner at the Gambian High Commission in London...suggesting the need for co-ordination of effort to assist Mr.Sanneh to medical help in the U.K.
The British High Commissioner in Banjul, quite rightly referred me to the Deputy H.C. Mr. Graham Birse who is also the Entrants Clearance Manager.
Mr Birse..has written a very compassionate letter asking if I still wish to offer to sponser Mr. Sanneh's medical visa application to the U.K. and that subject to reasonable consideration.. this may be considered favourably.
Of course..without Mr. Sanneh's permission I can not make any further enquiries on his behalf.
My immediate concern would be towards the logistics of his outward travel from Banjul....and to assertain any liason with the Hospital and all requirements for his comfort.
I have previously appealed to both news agencies..to drop any differences between you, to further this humanitarian cause.
I therefore appeal to Mr.Sanneh or anyone who knows his circumstances...to contact me through your office .
I will do all that is reasonable to assist.
